We’ve had this before it’s due to the power settings. In the power settings in control panel somewhere in the advanced section there is something about usb sleep and you need to turn it off. I’ll send a screenshot of the setting when I get to work tomorrow if you can’t find it beforehand. Luke

It has been years since I faced this issue but switching it on and wrapping it in a towel for 15mins worked for me. I got an extra few months out of it! I guess it's like the old logic board in the oven thing.

If you get azure AD you can add your gsuite into that and then do saml SSO. With us when they use google it pushes them to azure ad which is SSO so it’s just straight in without needing a password etc. From home they just use their email address and school ad password to login. No need to use google sync tools.

When they run the tests it says they have to have an unencrypted USB plugged in for them to write to. Do you know if it asks them for any personal info? I wouldn't want them talking a bunch of unencrypted USBs off site with personal info on them.

It's roughly £3200 for the initial hardware purchase and then roughly £600 a year for the use of the software - first year isn't included with the hardware purchase.

From the session last week they were saying that every head teacher in Wales will have to sign the document if they want to continue with HWB but there will be a separate agreement that parents will have to sign to use the additional features (GSuite) and when that is signed and returned we will have to log in to hwb and tick a box to allow that child access. We have 1600 students and we would have to tick the box for each student separately because you know we don't have anything else to do!

Google classroom is the way forward apparently! O365 isn't going anywhere though. It did look good but nothing that we couldn't do ourselves.

Well yesterday was a massive sales pitch for Gsuite. They want you to do everything in Gsuite except for mail which will still go through o365. They did say they would give certain admin controls to schools inside gsuite which was nice of them.

I’m meeting the hwb team tomorrow to talk about these issues. It seems to be too little too late for us though and we will be moving to our own tenancy for September.

I think at this point your best bet is to go with the PDF idea. You can then wait a while, go through the whole failed tribunal again and then come back here and moan at how unfair the world is. Talking about an unfair world, how about the imbalance of parental details held by schools crazy stuff that!!

I think it's about time this was closed until you send your next non-compliant request. It started off as a good read but now it's just annoying.

Hwb do not support SSO and have no plans to at the moment. We use hwb for OneNote etc for some lessons and after a while the pupils just remember the two usernames so keeping them separate is definitely the way to go. If you use Office 2016 you could look at getting that to auto sign in to the hwbcymru account for easy access to one drive etc but I haven’t had time to explore that yet. Luke
