I'm a software engineer with a few (*cough*) years experience. I've not developed software for education before, but it's an area I'd like to move into, if possible. Ideally I'd like to develop software for the education industry for myself, but that's a dream away at the moment. But, saying that, I'd like to start somewhere.
So, is there some software that you believe is needed, or is missing some sort of functionality from the education environment? Something I could develop for free that would 'show my skills'? Obviously I'd like to make a competitor for SIMS, but that's too big to develop at the moment.
Pretty happy with C#,C,C++, ASP.NET, PHP, MS SQL, etc.. Though I do prefer locally hosted information systems, rather than 'cloudy' things (showing my age now).
Also happy to offer with anything else someone is working on, or offer advice.
Any suggestions, please let me know.
