  1. Having similar issues with this problem outside of EDU at the moment. (This is exactly why after leaving the sector I've kept tabs with this forum!) Happening on a random scale with laptops, anyone had any ideas as my initial talk with Dell didn't provide many answers!
  2. Yep, just came onto here to have a look and see if anyone was having the issue
  3. I'm not planning on telling everyone on site just yet, but our Room Booking System appears to be running pretty smoothly now. Will give it a couple of hours just in case!
  4. Hi there, We recently had demos for two pieces of software which may fit the criteria you are looking for. Haldor Homework = https://haldoredu.com/homework/ Beedle = https://ta.education/beedle-microsoft-teams-parent-guardian-app/ Hopefully one of these will be going live for us within a year as long as the SLT give me the thumbs up
  5. Having switched the GPO off (thankfully, it was only being used for a handful of machines) login times reverted back to normal. Reading on here there could have been a Sophos update I re-applied the GPO late Tuesday evening. Had no reports yesterday of any login times taking any longer than they should have, fingers crossed that will be the same today (the phone hasn't gone yet!!)
  6. I have built up a test machine this afternoon to an identical spec to the stations we had issues with this morning. Its a basic Win7 64bit image and added the GPO Printer Assignments to it. First login was fine (around the 45s mark) for a first time user. Printer installed as you would expect. Installed Sophos, deleted the User Profile, and logged back in. Tried this about 6/7 times and login times were normal, tried once more to replicate the problem and hey presto, there I was sitting looking at "group policy printers" for a good 10 minutes. I then disabled the GPO and rebooted the machine and I was being logged in again under a minute. Definitely seems to be an issue with Sophos and the Print Assignment GPO.
  7. We are experiencing the identical problem here. We've had a handful of machines that are hanging on "deploying group policy printers" - after about 15 minutes they appear to be logging in. We're running Sophos as well and an update went down to our server at 11:05 this morning - now running (1.5.8.11) and the Clients are running 10.6.3.537. We're testing a machine at the moment to see what log in times are like with and without Sophos running. If anyone finds a fix that would be greatly appreciated.

    Ubuntu WinConn

Problem Fixed!! As I was trying to open a remote app RDC connection - I dragged the RDC Shortcut into Notebook to view the configuration. In there is a 'remoteapplicationprogram:s:' field. I copied that name into the Application name within the Winconn App setup page in this case (||SIMSLoad). Saved everything and re-ran the Winconn app and everything sprung into life. Thanks for everyone's help on this! Much appreciated!

    Ubuntu WinConn

We're not using AD for SIMS login. I'm not even getting SIMS to run to the login screen, its just bouncing the connection to the program

    Ubuntu WinConn

Error seems to be appearing on WinConn itself. In the bottom left of the remote app manager it says could not execute remote application. Yes, RemoteApp is working fine on another windows client. Nothing appears untoward in any of the server logs either. Yes the winconn application link is directly to pulsar.exe. I'm pretty new to Linux and certainly new to WinConn I'm wondering WinConn is only built to work with Windows programs hence why MSWord and MSPaint work fine but the SIMS connection wont?

    Ubuntu WinConn

Hi All, This may be a bit of a long shot. We're currently looking at solutions for using Linux Ubuntu 14.04 to connect to a Windows Remote App to run SIMS. I've found what looks to be exactly what we need to do so with WinConn (WinConn RemoteApp manager) downloaded and configured as the video/instructions say. Have gone to test the connection to the SIMS remote app which has been set up on our server but we get an error message saying 'can't execute the program'. We've created a remote app for Paint and Word as well and created the WinConn connection and both work perfectly well without a glitch. These are both set up identically apart from the .exe name. I'm just wondering if anyone out there may have experienced using WinConn in the past who may be able to give us some pointers on why it's not connecting with SIMS. Or failing that, any other way we could possibly connect to the Windows Remote Apps from an Ubuntu 14.04 machine? Many thanks in advance, Ben
  12. Thanks everyone. The image we're trying to take is around 17GB (according to the apple storage guide) add the system information I'd hazard a guess its around the 25/30GB mark in total. The mac-server we're sending the image to has over 950GB free on it so I really don't see storage being an issue based on those numbers. The permissions are set on the tmp folder to everyone has read/write so again that should be okay? There are also no proxies enabled on the mac-server. We really are at a loss!!
  13. Capturing it to the DeployStudio Masters folder. Plenty of room on the mac itself so I don't think that will be a problem. I have noticed the failed images are saving in the tmp folder.
  14. Hi Everyone, We're currently looking at building a new Yosemite mac image for deployment using DeployStudio. It appears we're hitting a bit of a wall which we can't get through. Everytime we try and capture a new disk image it happily works through until the 'Uploading Disk Image File' and we then get a 'workflow aborted' message come up and it asks to check the log for more details. When I look at the log it just says 'Imaging Failure'. It usually aborts itself around 1min 40s into the overall capture. We've upgraded both mac server to Yosemite as well as getting OS X server updated. We've also downloaded the latest version of DeployStudio from their website. Since we've updated it all I've created a new netboot and enabled the netinstall through OS X server. Multiple reboots of machine and server haven't knocked anything into life. We're completely stuck on this one, there isn't really anything to go off with that error message. If any Mac experts here have any tips that would be absolutely fantastic! (forgot to say I'm a bit of a newb to all this Mac stuff, but I'm pretty sure I've tried all I can think of!) Thanks, Ben
  15. Fixed it! Taking the $ lock out would have been a good idea. Instead of $A$1 just making it $A1 seems to have done it
  16. Hi folks, Does anyone know of a way to make one conditional formatting rule apply to multiple cells but based on different original cell values? For instance: (A1) 4.5 - 5 - 3 - 4.5 (A2) 3.5 - 5 - 3 - 3.5 (A3) 5.5 - 5 - 3 - 5.5 Can you create a formatting rule that applies to all the first column cells - A1:A3 - all I want is a greater than, equals too and less than. Obviously setting my table to do this for one set number is easy but to save time could it be different on each row all in one formatting rule. Thanks for any help anyone can provide
  17. Away from the IT life, you'll find me in the summer months in a cricket field, or in winter months at the ice hockey following the local side home and away. They're both great releases!
  18. Hi folks, I'm Ben and I'm an ICT Technician, new to the forum - some of you have already helped me out so thanks for that! Hope to be able to contribute some more in the future!
