  1. Hi, where in group policy would you find the setting that disables Windows Store Apps? For some strange reason I have one machine which has all the common windows apps disabled, including the calculator, yet every other machine on the network has been unaffected...
  2. Hi, This has been boggling me for a while (naturally, because I tend to learn things on the job). I haven't found any clear-cut guides on how to upgrade application packages on SCCM 2012 using the supercedence features. At the moment, software is being deployed via Device Collection, and whenever I want to update it to the latest version, I run an Uninstall deployment to it, wait for it to finish and then create a new software deployment with the latest version. Last time I tried it, it didn't work so well ... An example of a piece of software I tried to upgrade at the time was Schoolcomms when they upgraded to 9.5A. It comes as an MSI installer.
  3. Thanks - it's just a registry setting to enable presentation mode on desktops
  4. Hi, What is the recommended method for disabling email pop-up notifications appearing when logged into Outlook 2016 or Office 365? Sometimes teachers find it awkward when something confidential appears on a projector screen in front of an entire class.
  5. Hi, does anyone have any suggestions what could be causing an Access Database (created in Office 2016) to ignore any new entries stored into a table? I have already ruled out the possibility of the database file being opened more than once, or by other users.
  6. We have a chinese teacher who previously had the Chinese Simplified IME installed on Windows 7 - there was a menu pop-up in the systray that used to bring up a list of different "PinYin" characters. But this has been removed in Windows 10. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Sorry it's a bit vague, but if there are any download links of any additional IME packs available - they're probably worth a try.
  7. Thanks Steve, I ran this - and the KB 4011032 didn't appear. It seems that the WUSA tool works, because it will work for any KB listed within that list. But this list contained just 5 updates, and in reality there are at least 20-30 updates installed if you go to the Update history section. EDIT: just saw your reply - is there a command line version that can be run on the local machine (for example, on laptops which are off site)
  8. Thanks for the reply - but we have over 500 computers to do this on. We are looking for a command-line solution which we can then push out remotely through SCCM.
  9. Hi, I cannot seem to find a solution to uninstalling Microsoft Word 2016 (KB4011039) 32-bit Edition update. I have seen solutions where you type wusa /uninstall /kb:4011039 but the tool keeps reporting back saying that it does not exist, even though I checked it under the updates history. This needs to be done in bulk, as it's causing a known issue where text is disappearing in text boxes - so it's not really do manually on every computer, and needs to be done quietly. The Windows 10 Education build image is based on 10.0.14393 (Build 14393)
  10. @Arthur - I think you may be right. I ran the installer using msiexec /a and it started an install wizard with no fields populated, and it managed to run the installation. I'm going to try repackaging it using a clean installation package.
  11. Hi, For some reason, Autograph 3.3 installations seem to be failing recently, bombing out with the error suggesting that IE6 is not found. The current image deployment in our institution is Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Autograph support does not seem to be responding.
  12. Hi, Is there a way to customize an Adobe Creative Cloud package so that it installs to a different location other than the default C:\Program Files\Adobe directory? The reason being is that we are trying to install the packages on Terminal services, which requires the program files to be installed to a different drive letter.
  13. Hi, IE/Edge gives us headaches. What is the easiest way to force a specific default browser in group policy? In our case, Chrome.
  14. Hi, We are finding the OneDrive component a bit of a nuisance on our network, as we use a separate drive mapping program to map a user's OneDrive account to a drive letter. So we've uninstalled OneDrive using the following script: taskkill /f /im OneDrive.exe %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall rd "%UserProfile%\OneDrive" /Q /S rd "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneDrive" /Q /S rd "%ProgramData%\Microsoft OneDrive" /Q /S REG Delete "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}" /f REG Delete "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}" /f However, it appears to reinstall itself after a while. Any ideas?
  15. Hi, Can someone point us in the right direction on how to set a specific default printer (listed in Active Directory) in Group Policy for a Windows 10 workstation environment? Thanks.
  16. Hi, Can anybody decipher the below SETUPACT.LOG? I am having issues deploying an existing image through WDS which fails specifically on a particular Dell Laptop (Lattitude E5550). It looks like it processes the SYSPRP sequence, but it looks like a few problems occur after which results in the dialog window "Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation." I have only pasted the section after SYSPRP. If any further part of the log is needed, I can paste it in. 17. It is redirected using Group Policy. Adding Program Files (x86) shortcuts alongside the existing shortcuts was causing a lot of confusion with our users.
  18. Hi, Is there a way to deploy Applications through SCCM 2012 while specifying a specific installation path? Reason being is because I have applications deploying to the Program Files (x86) folder on 64-bit machines, and Program Files on 32-bit machines. Since the environment I work in uses a shared Start Menu amongst 32-bit/64-bit (slowly progressing to 64-bit), program shortcuts break when on 64-bit machines as they point to Program Files So far I've tried using: msiexec /i "installer.msi" INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\MyProgram" /qb This works when you run it on a machine, but it doesn't when you run it under SCCM. Any ideas?
  19. Does anyone know if Adobe has a UK technical support number I could ring?
  20. I spoke too soon - now it comes up with an Error 16 - Please uninstall and reinstall. It worked once for the user, now it doesn't work. This is an all too familiar scenario I've faced with CC 2014 which I never managed to resolve. Any other suggestions?
  21. So essentially the package created by the Packager is not serialized during the download process? Interesting, because I went through the "Create License File" channels which created a serialisation package. Ran it on a machine that previously asked for a Sign-in ID, and it worked...
  22. Is this the same as entering the CC Enterprise key in the CC Packager app? I'm still trying to understand how the deployment process works. I'm under the impression once the packager validates your license key, it will incorporate it into whatever package you are building, unless I'm mistaken?
  23. Hi, can anyone please shed light on this? I have tried so many different solutions on the adobe forums on this issue, but no to avail. This happens for any CC app, packaged individually or as a bunch. I download the apps using the Creative Cloud Packager using the school's enterprise key, and then install it onto a client's PC - freshly imaged. It works for the first few runs, but after a while it reverts back to the Trial version. This is indicated by the Sign-In box which appears, where the splash screen normally appears when you launch the app. I have tried various solutions, such a removing the Slcache folder, giving full access to the Adobe program files, and using various user accounts of different access rights. Does anybody know how licensing works?
  24. My environment currently has a print server running on Windows Server 2012, and network printers are deployed via Group Policy. Is there a way to force a particular printer to be set to the default printer?
  25. The problem occurs on whatever port you plug it into - we avoid using the USB3 port whenever possible. Unplugging the keyboard and plugging into another port whether it is 2 or 3 provides a temporary workaround, but it doesn't fix the problem.
