  1. Thanks for such a quick response - no, they're variable length. Bother! B
  2. I'm not sure if what I am asking is possible, but here goes: I am playing with the report template for Individual Student end of year reports from the SIMS Programmes of Study The template provided allows for each subject to have an 'Achievement' bulleted list, pulling through the Statements for those NC statutory objectives attracting a code of S or M (Secure or Mastered). The merge field looks like this: <>. Unfortunately for a higher ability child this can be extensive (and similarly for a lower ability child in the 'Developing' list). My Headteacher has asked if the list can be truncated to the first 5 results under each section but I'm not sure if this is possible (or how to achieve that0, can anyone assist, please? Many thanks Barbara
  3. Odd one. Registration tutor who is known by a preferred name and doesn't want her legal first name on documentation. Assessment manager doesn't want to know about preferred names and goes for the legal one every time! Apart from manually editing every document export from Assessment Manager, is there a global setting somewhere? Thanks in advance. Barbara
  4. We have a heavily customised set of templates/worksheets/tracking grids etc in Assessment Manager(with our own aspects/mark sets/grade sets etc). We are looking at whether Discover would help us graph our Assessment Data in a useful way - however all of the literature concentrates on the SIMS data. I'd love to hear some views about how useful Discover is under these circumstances, thanks in advance. Barbara
  5. Thanks all - not only do I now have a couple of ways to do the analysis - but I also have a quick route for the Admin staff to make a quick decision on House allocations for new joiners!
  6. I want to make a SIMS population Analysis report that does pupil totals per House not per registration group. Any ideas how to achieve this, please? Many thanks in advance Barbara
  7. I've tried the Neverware version on the Toshibas but struggled to get it to boot - something to do with the Intel onboard graphics.
  8. No idea if this is the correct forum for this but I'm hoping someone can help. I have over 100 Toshiba netbooks in school that are labouring under the weight of age, and some Chromebooks that everyone is fighting over!! I have the bright idea of installing Chromium OS on the netbooks and whilst limiting their function, making them faster and more responsive - also giving a more 'unified' experience to the children. We have a Google Apps domain and the money to purchase more chromebooks is just not there. I have used the builds and instructions from Arnold the Bat's website and have got Chromium to work from a USB stick on our NB250 and NB300 netbooks (the NB510s are still a work in progress) EXCEPT When the netbook boots, the wireless starts up and is enabled, up to the point where the Chromium login screen loads, when it immediately becomes disabled (It's Atheros, not Broadcom) with no way to turn it back on. However when you attach an Ethernet cable and a LAN connection is established, up comes the wireless and connects - and stays connected when the netbook is detached from the LAN. The wireless remains connected until the netbook is restarted. So not a driver issue, maybe? My problem is that I have no experience with Linux/Chromium/Chronos and not a clue how to attempt to alter the default behaviour and I am hoping some very kind person can point me in the right direction. I have experimented with different builds downloaded from the website, to no avail. Any ideas gratefully received, thank you.
