On my laptop the videos stream fine wirelessly.
-
The videos are in MTS format and full HD. Transferred directly from the Sony camera they were filmed on.
-
So buying a new NAS is not the answer?
-
Yes copying is fine. The NAS appears as a source on the tv so not sure what you mean by app?

Currently have an old Zyxel NSA320 NAS that I store all our photos and home videos on. I have this connected to an EE Brightbox Router and also the TV which is a Samsung Smart TV 8000 series which is around 7 years old. Any videos I try to play always buffer. I have tried putting a small switch in and connecting the TV and NAS to that but it's the same. What is causing the buffering? Is it the NAS or the TV? Thinking of replacing the NAS with a Synology 218j but wondered if that would make any difference.

So them wanting to keep majority of staff using 365 and some on Gmail but using same domain won't work?
-
If all users are using 365 currently using schooldomain.com and we want to move to Gmail can we keep the same domain name and do a migration across? Would it have to be a big bang cutoff or can the migration be slower? School want some users to transfer first and then the rest gradually.
-
Done. School is currently number 8

Do you have a space setup with correct lighting and background when you do this?
-
We are only going to have around 10-15 users at any one time, if that. VDI with better separation and security sounds like what we need.
-
So what does Ericom give you access to? We want access to a full desktop environment.
-
ok i think I found a good explanation https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/canitpro/2013/04/25/step-by-step-deploying-virtual-desktops-with-windows-server-2012/

Quite a noob question but this is the first foray into RDS. We want to allow staff to remote in to access school resources. SLT want them to have access to a desktop so they can use Office, SIMS and any other programs we have installed on a standard computer in school. I have been looking into RDS but am not sure if I need VDI or Session based? How do other people provide remote access? It looks like I need VDI but want to make sure. I have a beefy server I can create an RDS server farm on.

Am I better off getting someone in to do this?
-
Been told we need to in order to get the filtering to work.
-
I would assume so. Its not in my school, its a Primary down the road. I know they have cisco switches but other than knowing how to change the IP of the actual switch I dont know anything else.
-
I need to change the IP Scope of a Windows 2008 network due to change of broadband provider. The network has 2 VLANs. I have changed IP scopes before but only on flat networks. Is it any different when VLANs are involved?

What about storing the data on our Google Apps domain? Data is encrypted there and it would only be shared with designated staff.

From another thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/162974-usb-encryption.html Integral USB drives with 256 bit encryption were touted as being good. No need for an encrypted laptop to read the data.
-
Yes - this requirement is over and above our normal full backup which we have. I think the idea is to have the essential information on the USB stick.
-
Would a laptop with bitlocker on do the job?
-
Yes I did think that I would need to have a laptop that would be able to read the data. Is this the best way to hold information offsite? I was thinking I could have a VM sims server at our other school which would remain shut down. I would then back up our sims data regularly to the other school. I could then fire up the sims server when needed and load in the sims mdf/ldf. I just don't know what best practice is for data like this to be held offsite.

As part of the BCP I have been asked to provide an encrypted USB stick with details of student names, staff names and emergency contact details. This will be kept at our sister school. I cant see how this will work as we would need to update it each time there is a new student or one leaves or on staff changeover. How do other people provide this information for BCP?

My son has IBD Unclassified. Has traits of Crohns and UC. Its been a difficult year for him since he was diagnosed at the start last year. We think he has had it for years but for a long time the Doctors misdiagnosed him as having fecal compaction. At the same time as he was diagnosed there was the image doing the rounds on social media of the girl in her bikini with the colostomy bag. This really hit him for six and he got really depressed that he would end up with a bag. He was hospitalised several times in the year as they were trying to find medication which helped. He had steroids which made his face swell up, again this caused him no end of stress as he thought he would stay like that. He is now on 2 meds of 2 and 4 tablets of Azathiaprine and Asacol. We haven't found any triggers that set it off but luckily with the medication he hasn't had a flare up now since the beginning of the year. He is slowly coming to terms with it. Its not the end of the world. We keep mentioning Sir Steve Redgrave and the fact that he didn't let having IBD stop him from winning medals. You will manage the condition and you will continue to live your life. Don't let it stop you.

Can we go back to calling it FFS!
