We have had the decoraters in here had to move all the equipment from the walls in four IT suites and put it back but the decorators have left the rooms in a right mess. They organised this so that the rooms were cleaned then had the decorators in after to mess the rooms up great planning.

Its all the new staff I worry about I usually have to repeat training half a dozen times. I used to run training sessions the first couple of days but teachers make the worst students. We also have about half a dozen new senior staff, heads of dept\year, so will probably get them throwing their weight around until they find their feet and staff tell them the score.

Our LA have a IT department, if you are able to contact the right people they can be useful. Although they have gone through a re-organisation recently which was a mess for a couple of weeks. The LA is also our ISP provider and to be honest this has been pretty reliable although they can be a bit heavy on filtering although I would rather this than under filter.

Post completely makes sense I am currently working on helping with the VLE with staff and the IT technician is helping out the timetabler with time tabling. Completely agree with you senior management don't always understand benefits of the development of the infrastructure. But more easily see benefts to development of other systems in the school.

You're right no one is or should be indispensible or irreplacable that is the reason they have got someone else in which is I should of said was at my suggestion. But you have to show your worth and hopefully this is recognised which of course is not always the case.

This is what worked for me, started on about 18K 3 years ago upgraded the schools infrastructure helped them developed their MIS Systems, Electronic Registration, Reporting\Assessment sysetems. Then just explained the situation to Management that if I was to break my leg or have an accident or moved job as I was the only one who Managed and understood these systems they have issues. Extra Pay suddenly appeared and also another Technician to help out now on just over 28K. I think the answer is to try to make yourself as Indispensible as possible, then if you don't feel you are getting what you are worth move.

Hi I have had this a few times and have changed the Print Drivers on the Printer to PCL 5 from PCL 6, this seems to work sometimes. Give i a try. Hope this helps:getmecoat:
