Hi there, Thanks for the clarification. I have started to follow the SQL setup video but have got stuck at the users stage. You create the iis apppool user in SQL but we have a separate SQL server and this user does not exist. Is the only way to do this to create a domain user and use this for SQL and the Hap application pool? Thanks

Hi there, I'm just wondering if someone can just clarify the logging section. Please correct me if i am wrong. Logon tracker (Live logons and Historic logs) - This is physical machines logging on and off using the logon / log off scripts. Where is this data stored if you do not use SQL? Web Logs section - Is this meant to be for the actual use of the myfiles system or all systems? On mine this is blank and contains no data. How can i fix this? Thanks David

Receiving "Internal Server Error" popups after 9.0 to 9.4 upgrade
broadld replied to jrink's topic in Home Access Plus+
Hi there, We have come across this problem. We have require SSL set in IIS and the internal server error keeps on coming up. What is http required for? Im sure it worked fine in version 9 but version 9.4 it doesn't. Even with require SSL in IIS turned off the site still needs a binding for http. Is there anyway we can get around this? We need required SSL to be switched on as the site we have used for this requires SSL. Thanks David -
Hi guys, Thanks for this. Copy and paste worked fine just came across an internal error but found another post that had a fix for this. Thanks David

Hi there, I know this might be a silly question but i couldnt find any documentation on the upgrade process. Could anyone also shed any light on what protocols and authentication processes Home access plus actually uses to share the files over https? Is it webDav that is used in the background? Thanks David

I would be interested to know if you need to still use an adobe id in the app. Could you let me know? As this would be really useful as we are going to use people own device aswell on bring your own device scheme
-
On your mobile device do you not need an adobe account for the digital rights management or is this all handled by the overdrive app?
-
We need adobe digital editions to transfer Digital Right Manage protected books to ereaders there is no other way to transfer them.
-
@synaesthesia We are aware of reading these in a web browser but reading a book on a pc gives eye strain and is much easier reading on an ereader. All of my post has been advised by MLS, overdrive and direct with Adobe so can be legally carried out. The only downside is that adobe ID which manages the Digital Right Management is focused on single user and not organisations or schools.

Hi Guys We have purchased eclipse.net and overdrive and are in the final stages of getting it up and running. Our eclipse.net site is up and running and the overdrive site is setup. We have bought a few ebooks for testing. We have purchased 30 kobo touch ereaders for use in the school as a pilot. To download the ebooks you need to have adobe digital editions installed on your machine. You also need to create an adobe ID. Which you create and its free! You dont even have to use a legit email it can be anything. For example [email protected]. This ID is then used to authorize your kobo ereader and your PC. This is where stuff gets tricky. The PC and ereader has to use the same adobe id for the Digital Rights Management to work. Here is the catch you cannot register more than 6 devices under one adobe ID. So we basically registered 3 pc's and 3 ereaders per adobe ID in our library. We then logged off and then back on as another user and it says the computer is no longer authorized. Strange. So when you authorize your computer it doesnt look like it actually authorizes the PC more it authorizes the user. This throws a spanner in the works as staff and students cant be de authorizing and re authorizing accounts and if a user leaves it authorized on their user and doesnt de authorize then you use the 6 authorizations you have and can't authorizing anything else until you de authorize one of the devices. The only thing we can think of currently is to create a user account for the adobe account and register the adobe ID under this account. This means that students would need to logon as a library user that has been authorized under an adobe ID say [email protected] and then also get a ereader that is authorized under the same adobe ID to transfer a book. Not ideal but it will work. Hope this makes sense. Thanks Dave

Hi all, We have started the new term with a new installation of SCCM. The school has always used group policy for software deployment. I personally have never used SCCM before but it looks very powerfull. I have setup boundarys and boundary groups and have setup application deployments to some collections. The problem we are having is that clients have strange problems: -Some will pickup the application and install fine - Some will pickup the application but then go to past due will be installed but never installs. (I believe i may have found what was wrong with this. We had not set a maintenance window on the collection) - Some clients don't even pickup the new applications i have set to install. But if i manually go and open config manager control panel app and run the application deployment evaluation cycle and the app is then detected and then installed. One of the applications we have recently deployed is only 16% compliant on 50 machines. In the application monitoring 8 show as success but all the others are in the unknown status. Im tearing my hair out over this has anyone come accross this before or can offer any kind of assistance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave

Smart Notebook 10.8 Prompting username and password
broadld replied to broadld's topic in Educational Software
I have narrowed this down to smart gallery. It has an entry in for Google sketchup. If this is removed or proxy configured to let through without prompting for credentials it works fine. Reg key to delete [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies\Gallery\WebSites\1CA7F7F6-100F-4451-AB5A-EE664AC3428B] @="" "Title"="Google 3D warehouse" "Url"="http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/" -
This was due to the web scanning in sophos and i got this fix from espresso direct. Our issues was that espresso loaded but if you clicked any content it would not work. •Make sure site is in trusted sites via group policy and trusted sites zone set to low security •Edit AV policy and goto authorization then click websites and add location into there •Edit AV policy and under web protection turn download scanning off

Yes i have had this before. Just out of interest do you have sophos antivirus installed on the machine? As the issue was related to sophos. Let me know if you have and i will dig out the fix for you.

Hello i have created a mst with smart install manager and told it to install the gallery locally on every PC. I have tested a rollout of this and it goes fine and all installs fine but there is a really annoying issue. When anyone opens smart notebook they are prompted for a username and password for the internet as we a behind a proxy that requires authentication. I am wondering if people have had similar problems and if anyone has been able to track the cause of the problem and possibly have a fix for this? Also is there a regkey to hide the floating tools as the regkey i used previously does not work. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SMART Technologies\SMART Board Drivers\Floating Tools] "FloatingToolsVisible"=dword:00000000 Thanks David
