I have downloaded the free version of google earth onto three machines now. On all three when I run it, it connects to the servers ok. But all I can see is stars. Then when I ask it to go somewhere, the stars start to move and then the screen turns green, but I can't see any images of land. I have update DirectX and latest graphic drivers but to no avail. The OpenGL mode just crashes. My graphics is onboard but has 32mb ram. I have tried it on a Dell laptop too. I have disabled the XP firewall. I can't understand it, when google earth is running, it says it is streaming at 100%. So what's happening?

Ask your sims coordinator about what assessment manger can do, if he/she doesn't know, they should have the number for your support team, either local or national in bedford. Ring them up and tell them what you want to do, and they will tell you is Assessment manger can do it.

The best way to get rid of wallpaper is with some hot water and a little washing up liquid and a good scraper. Sorry, I couldn't resist! If you were meaning desktop wallpaper, then group policy is the best way to tackle that - disable active desktop. With regard to this post, I think it will be easier to do a search and delete every now and again.

Right, I created a 'folder settings' and made it read only. Put it into the user folder at the top level and it stopped the user from changing anything at that level. Bigger problem. How do I copy my read only 'folder settings' into every user'a folder at every level? And what if they create another folder after I have copyed the 'folder settings'? Surely they will be able to customise any new folder they create, since my 'folder settings' will not have been copied into there. Gasp! It's too HOT

WOOOOAAAAHHH. Thanks ninjabeaver (cool name by the way) you put me on the right track. Went into a kids folder and found desktop.ini but when I looked into it, it didn't have anything relating to the background picture. However, I also found a hidden folder called 'folder settings' and in there was 'background.bmp' When I deleted the folder settings folder, it returned the appearence of the folder to what it should be. Problem solved! However, we all know it's never THAT simple with microsoft. I did a search for 'Folder Settings' (remembered to set the search up to include hidden files/folders). When I selected all the results and then deleted them, it put them in the Recycle bin on the server. However, it did more than that. It also put a copy of them into the recycle folder of EVERY user area on the share. Weird? Yes, very, but that's exactly what it did! When I emptied the recycle bin on the server, the recycle bins in the user folders also cleared. Work that one out! So I need to write a script to delete all the folders called 'Folder Settings'. Any ideas? Thank

Hi, does anyone have a problem with pupils using the customise folder wizard in win2k to put background pictures in a folder? It's driving us mad!!! I can't find a GP to stop it. And I don't know if there's a script that will remove all the current settings in pupil folders. HELP!

That's very interesting. I have installed the client on 152 pcs for this trial. So if we bought securus at the price I have been quoted for, then it would cost us altogether £3,108. But if the server was £960 and the licenses where £8, then it would cost us altogether £2176. Me thinks you have got the better deal there!

Unless like he said, you have been quoted for a rackmounted server! Ask for the little server box with the blue glowing light!

Right, here's the lowdown! Server is £480 First 100 client licenses are £19 each Any after that are £14 each Yearly service contract including updates is 15% of the total initial purchase. These prices are from Steve Ogden of Reality Communications Ltd http://www.realitycom.net These are the prices for version 2, NOT version 3 which he tells me should be cheaper. He also said that some may have been quoted for the rack mounted version of the securus server, which would double the price. He is able to do discounts if schools get together to buy it. I don't know what the little knob does on the front. Stewart???

Chris, I don't want to share calendars on the PDAs, just through outlook. When Users sync their PDA through out the day, these changes will be reflected in Outlook and thus will be view by anyone who has permission to look at the shared calendar in Outlook

As far as I can see there has been no drain on network bandwidth. Securus runs on it's own tailor made server so it's not touching the 'big' servers on the network. How do I attach an image onto this post? When I figure it out, I will post a piccy of the server!

Posted this on the LGfL forum so sorry if your reading it twice. So all of SMT are now using the calendars in MS outlook to organize themselves. And since the new headteacher asked for a PDA, the news has spread like wildfire and now evybody wants one. I've already ordered one for one dep. head and now I've got to get one for the other dept head. Anyway, that's beside the point. SMT want to share their calendars with the office staff. They want office staff to be able to add appointments. If you remember a while ago, I set this up between two machines directly using outlook 2000 and net folders. http://www.lancsngfl.ac.uk/forums/dg/index...owtopic=658&hl= It worked but it was a bit of a patch up. So now that more and more are wanting to share, I have priced up Exchange Server 2003. It's cheaper than I thought! Anyway, I know that Exchange server is principly an email server and that sharing calendars is only a small part of it. But initially, is it simple to set it up? Will it run on top of Windows server 2003 (indeed does it require server 2003 to run) or should it run on it's own server? Do I need to start setting up email and other things before I can get it to link with outlook and share calendars? Hope there aren't too many questions there but I'm hoping for simple answers! Thanks to Stewart, we are now trialling Securus too. I have been told that currently the server is £480 and I can't remember the client prices but the ones mentioned previous sound right. However, they say that version 3 is out soon and that the prices will be cheaper so it's worth waiting a little. I hope that v3 will have more reporting facilities, and at least a basic search. But I can't fault Securus as a whole, I think it is amazing how it captures anything anywhere that appears or is typed in. We have had one boy who was posting links to porn clips onto a forum while at home, but then returning to the forum in school. I'm sure his parents will be interested in that!
