Cheers for the replies. The images are identical on 60 computers and nothing has been tampered with on any of the BIOS. It is multiple programs. One for instance instantly crashes when you try to save and another will not even open.

Pass complete, no errors. Bugger. Must be something on the image but i have no idea where to start finding out. Pretty sure there wasn't anything incriminating in the event logs. Going to have another look.

Nobody? I have now seen that it does it when i open a second IE window too. So i open IE and it hits our home page, no problem. Then i open another IE window and it tries to hit an IP address that looks like the 'go.microsoft...' url.

Hi, I've been having problems with this for a while, but it hasn't been a major issue. We want a shortcut to a URL on the desktop of all users. I've put this in the profile. It's there, no problem. I log on, double click that and it says it's 'connecting to: '. But if i click home, or open IE first, then double click on the icon, it loads instantly. Had this issue with various sites and IE 6 & 7 and maybe 8. So it's like it can't establish a connection first, but why google? It's not our home page either. I know when i first discovered it, it was trying to connect to a 'go.microsoft' address. Putting the site in favourites works fine as IE has already 'established a connection', and i've used that to get past the problem in the past. But these icons are needed on the desktop for very young kids. Any help appreciated. Cheers

Afternoon! We have had a problem for a few months where a number of programs crash with memory errors in the likes of (insert useless address here) etc etc. OK to quit and Cancel to debug. It first happened about a year ago when overnight a program just stopped working, saying there was an memory error in the exe. We thought it may have been related to an update, but it recently there's a few programs that do it. While saving, opening a saved file or instant as soon as it's opened. Is there anyway i can get to the root of these problems as we're having problems imaging at the moment due to a fault with NetRunna. They happen to be the most popular bits of software we have too, typical! All on Windows XP and have worked fine before. Thanks in advance. (writing this on the run, so may have missed something!)

While i'm at it... Are there any other ADMs i should get as nothing would have been done to it for 3 years or so!

Cheers Grant But it doesn't seem to have changed anything. Installed it on the Domain Controller too. Nothing seems to have changed.

Morning all. I've found the fix for this, but i can't find it in my GPO edit. User Config > Admin Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Pop-up allow list Just isn't there. Do i needs some kind of add on? IE6, 7 and 8 around the school. Server 2003 to XP. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The problem lay with the filtering system with the authority. They gave us the IPs and have not had anything set up in preparation for them all. The last two weeks have been a nightmare.

Cheers Pete. The Council provided the new scope as they're changing all schools around here. Exchange 2003. There are no connections between us and the outside world that didn't know about the change. I think we do go through something with the Local Authority first as sometimes they block attachments. They know about the change though. However, I have had a load problems during this switch over which has been down to them after all despite them saying it wasn't them at first contact. I have mentioned this problem to them and they mentioned nothing about it being them. Is there anything i can check to prove it may be outside?

Hi, I've been changing server IPs etc as i was told to switch to a new IP scope. I changed the cluster IPs using the resources in the Cluster Admin tool. After some problems yesterday where the resources were going onand offline. Something to do with IsAlive service. I changed the protocols IP addresses within Exchange Service Manager. Now i can send and receive internal mail. I can send mail to external addresses, but no one can receive external email. I've never done anything with Exchange, so when i've been looking at other threads and other websites, nothing seems to have matched up. Is there another setting somewhere that's not letting external mail through. I think there are no queues. However, i was probably looking in the wrong place! Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, sorry. I'm just full of busy! Within Cluster Administrator, there are Groups. These groups are the virtual servers and within them, they have a resource set as IP Address and parameters set inside it. Took me a while but i got there. Hope that makes sense.

Totally agree. But if i have to do all this work, i'm not doing it next time so it's a lesson for the next person who has to do it My boss is away now and i can't get into three stacks of Nortel switches. All the passwords should be the same, for every switch and they're clearly not. So half the building could be off when i'm finished.

Yeah, the thing is, they're all static at the moment so i'll have to change them anyway at the moment!

My thoughts on my new DHCP set up Set new IPs to Switches and switch stacks around the building. - They don't need a reboot after the IP is changed does it? Set Static IPs on Cluster , file and exchange virtual servers - Puzzled with this Set static IPs on servers including gateway ip / new dns address Shutdown servers except DHCP server, obviously! Clear DNS Entries in forward lookup. Activate New DHCP Scope De-activate Old Scope - Correct order? Change IP of DHCP Server Reboot DHCP server with it's new IP. New DNS Should only show DHCP server. Start booting servers Cross fingers Then all the printers etc etc.

As you may have seen by the mess that was my last post we're switching DHCP Scopes and i'm going through lists of stuff that need changed before the big switch over. However, when i connect to the cluster and virtual servers like a file server and exchange server i look at the network connection and they all have the same IP as the server the Cluster is set up on? But connecting to the IP that i have on a spreadsheet of our IPs, i can connect to that file server for example but the network connection still gives the IP of the main server it's setup on. It's not something i've set up before and since i had the job, it's just worked quietly in the background! Any help appreciated. Cheers Stu

Well... Something has came up. Sorry for wasting your time reading the complicated stuff above, but now I'm not combing the old scope and the two new scopes. The two new scopes will be used by themselves. Maybe just one of the two too! I have been given no information about this at all which is why i've been stressing. Anyway, if i was to create a new scope using only one of the new IP sets, could i just use the same settings as the current one has?

Ok, i'm just going to post the way it is as i'm lost having read quite a bit on this forum and through google. I don't know why i messed about with changed addresses. Current setup: IP. 10.179.144.1 - 10.179.146.254 (scope name in DHCP says 10.180.144.0) Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0 I've been given two new scopes by the LEA. 10.137.20.1 - 10.137.23.254 and 10.137.24.1 - 10.137.27.254 I assumed that i could just add them without a problem, but reading similar posts (by people who actually have a clue) it looks like it's going to be a nightmare for me. I haven't done anything like this in 5 years and even then i was hungover during that module most of time. I don't know where to start. I have a list of devices and systems that have static IPs and my boss has told me to get those first. Any help appreciated. An idea where to start would be great

Ah! Contiguous. I misread what you typed. I don't know to be honest, i'm guessing 100.180 would mean that it's a different subnet despite coming from the same LA?

The current range is; 100.180.104.0 - 100.180.106.250 Although i think the Scope itself is 100.180.105.10 - 106.250 I'll have a look into the gateways, DNS and subnet masks, as suggested. It's been a long time and i'm lost already.
