I'm currently trailing DNA and Classroom for our MAT, be interested to see the new features, Chromebook support? I'll be down on Thursday, hopefully catch you then. Mark

We also use GSuite for our MAT, any new academies that come on board who are with O365 are migrated across. We are currently re designing how GDrive works across the MAT so one new academies or staff join the MAT, they automatically have access to documents they need. Simple and reliable, like all things though, staff training is essential. 1 tenant which is the trust, currently 6 sub domains for each Academy, OU's setup with Teachers and Students then the Acadmies of those.

Anyone know if this will sync with the Google drive app, I suspect as they are shared folders it will not.

I've just started to look at manageengine help desk for our Trust, you can have multiple schools on there and assign Technicians to multiple schools for remote support. Not sure if it integrates with AD, haven't got that far yet.

One of our schools have 150 Chromebooks (Toshiba) and work really well, the computer science department have just started using Codio for Python and SQL, the kids and teachers love it. They are also used as thin clients that connects to Citrix XenApp servers, this used to be the preferred option for teachers, but now they use them just as a Chromebook due to the speed and the ability to mark work online. Another School is O365, they have just setup a GAFE account and have purchased some Chromebooks, they don't bother with SSO, both office and Google passwords are set the same. If they forget their email password, IT Support just charge both. I believe you could setup ADFS as a single sign on option, but as Sylv3r says, RM Unify works well and isn't that costly.

New Horizons (Newcastle region) do online live training for Microsoft, Comptia, Citrix,VMWare and so on. They do offers if putting multiple people through, still in £1,000's though.

Cloud backup - How much do you backup? What do you backup? Rough cost?
mbuk70 replied to tj2419's topic in Cloud Services
One of our academies uses Datasafe max backup, purchased through a company called Tektoo in Burnley. They backup all data and virtual sims server (VMWare but also backs up Hyper V) total comes to around 1Tb. They charge per 500Gb I think, currently the school pays £400 per qtr. -
Last time I looked at spanning their pricing model was based on FTS count, similar to Microsoft, think I was given a quote for around £1300 for the whole Academy, including pupils. Might have changed now though.

Split mine up into 3 sections.. Hardware, Staffing and teaching and Learning, also did it as a leaflet.
-
Roughly between 5000-7000 pages per day, 8 MFD's across the school and no repro room, admin staff do booklets for teachers or very large jobs. Other than that teachers do all there own, even pupils at the moment, waiting to see what happens when course work is due

Ditto on scheduled task via GPO, takes 5 mins and no cost.

Slightly different for me as I work for an Academy Trust as Strategice Lead, each Academy has 2 techies, Senior and a junior. Works ok at the moment but I'm looking at reviewing the setup. -
Some advice on Thin Clients
mbuk70 replied to ChrisERoots's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Hi, we use wyse xenith as our thin clients, work very well for us. I also convert some of our older PC's to thin clients by using software called thinkiosk. Install win7 thin PC then thinkiosk sits on top of that, great way to convert a PC and it's free, though you can buy it and get the management console, to be honest, I've not needed it. I'm looking at using chrome books in the future, have tested some using HTML 5 and not bothering with the receiver. Need storefront installing, which is pretty easy to be honest. -
