Hi All, I need to find a way of Teaching staff to save passwords on IE. I've looked around but cannot find anything that will work. In our school we have 22 classrooms with teaching staff logging on to most of them but is there a way for us to save passwords on IE to each pc for separate users(teachers policy)? Surely there must be a gpo that will allow us to save IE passwords for that users on different PC's. They all have Mandatory profiles and we are using Windows 7x64 bit & for IE verison 11.0.8 (KB2953522) Could anyone help? Cheers, Manny

Hi All, Just to say i have found a fix for this and it works 100%. I hope people look at this fix in the future if they have the same issue as what I had! Here is the guide i found online: How to apply “The content of IE Settings” in GPO (which used IEM (IE Maintenance) before IE10) to IE10+ Version since IEM have been deprecated from IE10 - AsiaTech: Microsoft APGC Internet Developer Support Team - Site Home - MSDN Blogs I used the registry settings previously but i did miss out the "DefaultconnectionSettings" as a registry key, please make sure you have this on the group policy settings that you create. It also needs to be in the order otherwise it will not apply. Please remember that the settings need to applied on the the computer you are using (in my case the i used the actual server) and you will be fine! I also added another registry entry which was a homepage. This is called a start page (i believe its in the same location as proxyserver & proxyenable) Hope this helps somebody in the future! I haven't tested the policy (set time one) just yet as i said in the previous thread i am testing the always wait for the network at computer startup and logon. You think its worth a shot enabling both and using a set time to 20 or 30 seconds? Cheers, Manny

Hi All, We have a similar issue here - can i ask what policies you had issues with? We also installed some new SSD's this summer (also upgraded RAM) and since then one policy does not apply (internet settings), the fix i have for short term is to run a gpupdate /force when this happens (a teacher or student will log on and receive no IE settings, after the gpupdate all is fine until the next student/teacher logs on - sometimes it wont happen for a while and then the next day it will be each person that logs onto that PC). Also i have found 2 gpo's that might help (i'm testing one now) both of Computer policies. 1) Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon 2) Specify a startup policy process wait time (same one you are using but i haven't tested this yet). I was thinking what else could be the issue and it might be the network card inside the pc, not having enoufh mbps? or if you have a "link" (pc to phone to rj45 connection on the wall) it could be any of them that has the issue. Hi All, This happened again this morning to a "teaching staff". After checking Smoothwall logs the request was not getting to the proxy. I closed IE then re-opened and got nothing. As soon as I did "gpupdate /force" it worked fine, including the logs on the proxy (Smoothwall). Can you guys help any further? Cheers, Manny

Hi, I am unable to check that, its disabled by GPO but I do know the proxy settings are set (gpresult) Cheers, Manny

Hi Guys, Thanks for replying to me. We are using smooth wall as the proxy authentication - I will look at the log when I receive another phone call. None this morning which is strange! We have 2 DC's both running Windows Server 2012 R2. Cheers, Manny

Hi All, A very strange problem I'm having with my network. As it stand I can always get internet connectivity from my office (unfiltered internet) but students/teachers (filtered internet) cannot get internet connectivity sometimes. When logging on as a teacher sometimes you will get access to the internet then later in the day the same pc with the same user details will not get the internet. when I receive a call I run gpupdate /force remotely and then it works fine (closing internet & re-opening) until it happens again, it doesn't happen to the same pc/user all the time. One day it will be classroom-10 a few times a day with different users then the next day it will be another classroom with another user. I use the registry keys to apply the internet settings through group policy. I have done some testing (gpresult /r which then I can see it does apply the gpo for internet settings- which you can see it has applied the IE setting but you cannot get the IE to connect) I'm not sure if its a computer policy which is coursing this to happen at random times/days. We are using Windows 7 for the client pc's with IE 11 installed. Its a very annoying problem for staff/students which does happen at least 2x an hour everyday. Has any ones else had the same issue? I hope somebody has a fix or someone could point me in the correct direction! CHeers, Manny

Hi Nick, We did enable Kerberos again and its worked My network manager said this was turned on yesterday but didn't work... he did restart the web service maybe that helped? We have another question.. Do users need to log in again once you open the page or can we enable some automatic log in? (internal access - we may set the home access to the homepage in IE). Hi All, first of all I would like to say home access plus looks a great piece of software My network manager is currently setting up home access in our school, we have hit a brick wall here. We keep receiving error messages when logging in automatically (picture attached called error 1.0). After clicking "ok" a few times another message appears (picture attached called error 2). It's to do with windows authentication and Kerberos.. and were not sure what the error is from, maybe it needs delegation or spn's? We are not sure what to do next - we have also added the error log file(called error). Anyway help would be much appreciated, Cheers, Manny error.txt

Hi, No we didn't find a solution - i'm sure there is a registry key hidden somewhere to remove this but its trying to find it thats the issue. In the mean time we just installed Windows 7 Enterprise onto laptops, as we know it works 100%

Hi All, I have a little problem with windows 8.1, I'm hoping someone has a fix for this as i cannot find anything on the net! (apart from 3rd party tools to remove the Explorer ribbon). I am currently setting up Windows 8.1 on a pool of laptops, I am now started with GPO's etc but i cannot seem to find any with the Explorer ribbon. I do not want Students/Staff to access the "Application Tools" (added a picture here) as you can see they have the option to "Run as administrator". This fix here would be to remove Application Tools all together. I also have another issue with students/staff clicking on "File" and they will see "Open Command Propmt" &"open Powershell" (In the same place as above, the explorer ribbon). I have added another picture here. Does anyone have any tips so i can disable/remove this for staff and students? Thanks all!

Hi Guys, We had the same problem (mainly with windows x64 PC's). We have got some remote software called "Impero" which we thought the issue was.(we needed inject some files into PUA list from Sophos, we contacted Impero support to help us with that). We also install the KB below which might help you. I have added two pictures for you - thats if you use Impero but these are the changes we have made and since then the "please wait" and "Welcome has not happened" Unexpectedly slow startup or logon process in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7 After spending more time i found some KB fixes from Microsoft. Install them to the correct system and it should fix the issue! Hope this helps! Cheers, Manny
