Our 6th Formers are allowed to use the wireless network to access filtered internet. Thats all, they can't access any other resources.
Am I being naive and letting them use it. Should I review the situation? Is it possible they could bring in a virus which could spread via network IP alone?
This thread has got me thinking...
Does anyone know of any free software that allows you to view folder sizes in Server 2003 r2? Like in the list, instead of right clicking going to properties.
Does that make sense?
We allow use of pen drives but disable autorun. We try and get pupils to regularly come to us to scan their pens, but staff don't seem to accept that these pens need scanning. Its annoying really.
I can see if we disabled use altogether we'd be hounded!

Obviously the outlay is more expensive, but are they really any cheaper?
Any recommendations on makes/models? Are they easy to setup?

Around by us, a new housing estate, people park where-ever they want- on roundabouts, bends, on the pavement...

The problem is going to tesco's etc is that who is going to pay for it? We aren't allow a petty cash drawer, the teacher won't get them so why should I go out of my way by a good 10 miles to get them? Might sound selfish, but I wouldn't get any thanks if I did that.
I have been asked to find a cost to produce our own ID cards in-house. I don't know where to start to be honest. How much does a piece of equipment cost that produces cards?
To me its the most pointless exercise/idea. We've never had any issue with unauthorised access before, so someone's 'thinking too much'.
Any advice would be appreciated!
