They do? Our kids now get a lot of homework or at least my 10 yr old does. This is in part a response to parents pushing for consistency across the school WRT homework. There are plenty of parents who want their kids to have homework and plenty who don't. The former won. I don't think there is much evidence to say that homework helps primary aged kids but it may help to engage parents with their school work. This is obviously a good thing. I don't agree with that. Which school has time or resources to phone parents about what their kids should be learning at home. Surely this is done by Email or letter? Weird.

Procrastinate. Dismantle it with a view to fixing it. Procrastinate. Break something in the process of dismantling it or end up being unable to re-assemble. Then order a new one. Or at least that's what I'd do.

I'm planning on putting at least one packet of high quality(*) biscuits on our stand but forum rules prevent me from telling you which stand it is. This means that (a) I'll have to eat them all myself or (b) you'll have to visit all stands and ask for 'the secret biscuits'. I'd strongly recommend the latter. (* - Tesco value Rich Tea)

I'm on a 13 year old Kona Hoo-Ha for my commute/pub. I've barely done anything to it since I bought it. New cassette, chain, and one shifter. New front wheel. For weekends I ride a late 80s Raleigh Ritmo which is probably too small for me but gets me out into the barren flatlands round these parts.

At our kids' school we went for Code Club, as suggested above. They have a database of able volunteers and match them with the schools. This ran for three terms at our school mainly with KS2 and it was almost all Scratch based work. They provide lesson plans and the kids can move on to HTML (is that really programming?) and, I think, Python. We're in Cambridge, so unsurprisingly there was no shortage of volunteers This year, the school is running a Minecraft Edu club instead, that I'm helping out with (I'm a parent/governor not a member of staff). Other resources that may be of use: Computing at Schools who helped push 'computing' back on to the curriculum I think. Raspberry Pi teaching resources. May be useful for teaching (eg Python) without Pis. OCR's Computing MOOC was recommend by my daughter's (secondary) computing teacher.

This is what I was thinking too. Could you, for instance, sign up for GAFE and use this facility purely for your backup system? eg. without moving your school to a Google Apps based setup.

Another + for UniFi here, we've installed it into a number of schools. We have the controller running on our own server and can have multiple schools setup to use that same controller software. In theory, we could troubleshoot a school's system remotely though we haven't needed to do so yet.

Yep, it was good. As someone who spends too much time watching my Twitter feed with various people evangelising about iPads (and other tabs) in the classroom, it was good to get a more balanced overview. Haven't heard episode 2 yet though.
