  2. Imaging within windows or offline with a boot disc?
  3. The laptops definitely desktops not for me. Got a macbook air and I'd buy it even if I was just running windows on it
  4. I know how to do it now but the laptops I'm trying to build use the RTL8186 card. The windows PE environment created by the CC4 server I'm trying to do this on is based on vista. The vista drivers don't seem to work I've even installed vista on one of the laptops to check the driver but I think its incomptabile with the OS The network card shows code 10 no matter what driver (device cannot start) Is there a specific pack etc to run on a CC4 server to get the pe environment to upgrade to be based on windows 7? If not, can someone list a rundown of how I should set up windows 7 to be ready to use smart cclient as in, user accounts, passwords and if sysprep is required etc or just a basic build with the correct drivers and build away? I kept getting errors at stage 3 of smart client .. I think it was called upgrade boot assistant or such like Thanks all This has been a big issue the last few days for me and the Easter holidays are nearly over!
  5. How do you do this? I was trying this today and wasn't sure the process I imported drivers from the management xibsole but wasn't sure what else I need to do Hope someone can help!
  6. Well this all helps I'll experiment with 1 of the laptops tomorrow. I can always put it back on short term and see how many issues they have. At least it's for a purpose. Once these kids reports are complete they don't really need them home again. Thanks Arthur!
  7. I didn't notice rm synchronise although I think some schools don't use it here as there was constant sync issues. I'll double check but pretty sure it wasn't running
  8. I believe they were which is what I found odd about it. Perhaps setting to something else and setting to shared laptop again would help? I'll be in again tomorrow so hoping to be in with a few ideas. Thanks
  9. Hi all I joined last night not noticing this thread, sorry! I'm a newly appointed ops analyst in primary schools (looking after cc3 and cc4 servers) I've never touched rm systems until last year but I've hit the ground running and enjoying something different for now! Moving to vanilla I believe in a year or two so I'll be able to use my previous experience a lot more once that happens (server 2003/8/12!) Hoping to contribute some good ideas to people with issues as I like to think I am a pretty decent problem solver!! Cheers
  10. Hi All Quick question about laptops being used away from a school on CC3 Normally they cache the profiles, but I have 1 school where I can log in but my documents doesn't work. Simply states the location isnt available or similar. What do I need to do to the laptops to make them cache profiles and their docs (which are obviously normally stored on the server) Are there specific packages or applications I need to be checking or could it be settings in RMMC done wrong? Sorry, I inherited the school and I'm new to CC3 (just started with it last year) Also, there is also a long running issue which is that Adobe Reader doesn't work when the computers are offline or away from the school network. C++ error, I believe it's related to redirected folders or the like. I experiemented for a while this week and the only way I could make it work was by running the program as a local user. ie right click - run as - and pick an account. Can't do that as a teacher, I was just trying as systemadmin. It did work perfectly fine but not keen on setting up a local user on every computer needing to use it at home! I can make a shortcut that runs the commands to create an account, and launch reader using that account but it needs an admin account to run the part that creates the user, so doesn't really save me any time. Any tips? Apparently it must be adobe reader - as they use it for forms for reports. Thanks! Hope you understand my brain dump!
  11. Thread mine but I'm after a guide like this if anyone has one I have access to RM support website but I'm new to the job and want something to read through for some general knowledge. I have picked up most things from the other guys in my team but still interesting to see the methods from RM direct. Also - hi all - new here and hoping to be here a long time and give some good contributions to this community! Thanks
