  1. I'm 99% sure it can be done with DISM /online /Set-Edition: /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula but you can't do it to a domain controller
  2. I'd try plugging your laptop into the port on the router and see if you pickup an address - if not, then that port will need configuring (if possible).
  3. Does the XP machine still exist in AD? If so could you check what OU it's in then see if there's any group policies applied to it which might contain the document redirect settings. Also are you logging on to the 8 machine as the same user as you did with the XP machine? Users objects can have the home drive set to point elsewhere (i.e, the server) although it wouldn't necessarily have document redirection on. And yes it could of been a local settings that had been changed manually.
  4. It's not something I've done for a while but maybe try dsquery computer -inactive 4 on your DC - that would show any computers that haven't been active for 4 weeks (you can obviously change 4 to whatever). Be careful though as sometimes laptops etc could potentially be away from the domain for x amount of time, so you wouldn't want to delete them. Maybe also move the computers that you know are active into a new OU? I'm sure they'll be loads of stuff on Google about finding inactive objects.
  5. Creating another domain controller isn't really the answer then as everything will replacate from the exisiting domain controllers. You should look at tidying up and re-organising the existing AD and GP structure, creating a new domain would be overkill IMO.
  6. I have a similar issue with any Office file which is located on a network share. Takes ages to download the file then open it - The problem only occurs with Windows 7 and Office 2010. Office 2010 on XP or Vista works fine.
  7. The issue I had was kind of similar but it doesn't really seem to fit in with your problem. Basically we have 1 user who uses both the onsite Exchange server for 1 e-mail address and Office 365 for another and the password prompt kept popping up every time they opened Outlook. If they entered it enough times, it would go away but come back a few hours later. We rang MS and they said run this: “reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover /v ExcludeScpLookup /t reg_dword /d 1 /f” And that worked! Worth a try!
  8. Do you have to keep entering the password multiple times before it accepts it by any chance?
