Hello, Our AD integrated network users are having some problems. Occasionally random users on random macs will get the message "Cannot login to %USER% at this time please try again later". Restarting the Mac fixes the issue and they can login as normal. No idea what is causing this! Any suggestions? Joel.

Thanks for your reply, I have already tried this but with no luck. I'm in the process of creating a new mandatory profile so it will be interesting to see if this solves the issue, and if so to see if it reoccurs at a later date.

Not as far as I can see, this was the first thing I have checked. I also considered it may be something to do with the original install, but logging in as pupils works fine they get English UK.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have already created a GPO for this and the settings show as in your screenshot, the default editing language says English UK default by policy, and there is no mention of US English. However when you type into the document e.g. colour the dictionary reports it is spelt incorrectly, and if i go to the review tab on the ribbon and then proofing language it is still set to English US :/ Thanks.

Hi guys, Our staff users are getting the English US default spell check language in Office 2010... whilst our pupils are getting the English UK dictionary. Obviously, we want to change this. I think its something in the default profile, but was hoping there would be a registry change or group policy I could apply. Thanks, Joel

Hi all, We are currently using a default mandatory profile on our user accounts. Sometimes (not always) the icons on the taskbar will display incorrectly, for instance Microsoft Word will show up as clipart or PowerPoint will show as publisher. This seems to be affecting all applications, but when you pin the icon it changes to the correct value. I've tried deleting the icon cache as it suggests on google but no luck. We are switching to roaming profiles in a few months anyway but until then this is being a bit of a pain! Thanks.

Hi guys, The mac network in our school is growing quickly, and at the moment we currently have 1 Mac Pro Server and a Mac Mini that essentially acts as a backup replicating files from one RAID drive to the other. The reason for my post is to see if there is anyone out there who is using , or knows how to, set up redundancy on file shares. For example, if we were to buy another Mac Pro Server and connect it to the same RAID array (as we have the capacity for this), I know that we could set it up as a OD replica to provide user preferences, but how would we get the shares to "switch" from one server to the other in the event of a system failure? By this, I mean there are mounted drives for a shared area that point to server 01, and if server 01 was to fail the connection is lost. Would it be possible to do some sort of DNS round robin trick here to create the equivalent of a farm and then point the mounted drive to come from the farm rather than one particular server? The reason I ask this is because if our server has a bit of a panic attack, users can no longer login as they are using network home folders on server 01. My thinking on round robin has been inspired by the Terminal Server farms you can create, and that if one server fails the other should still respond right....? Grateful for any responses even if it turns out im barking up the wrong tree entirely! Thanks, Joel

Sorry - to clarify the users have network home folders that come from the active directory home folder path. the folder the home folder sits on on is the Mac server and it is shared via AFP. We would prefer local as I know there is a lot of strain, but this would then confine the kids to one iMac I know we could map the drive and they could save files in there but many would just save on local machine and not realise until it's too late. We are based in Wigan but obviously willing to travel if it will help us! Thanks for your reply.

Hi guys, We are desperately hoping that someone will be able to help us! We have recently upgraded the OS X Server we have and our Mac clients to 10.9, and at the same time integrated them with AD. For the most part things have worked well, you can login as your AD user and the home folder (that resides on the OS X Server) is properly accessible. We have student home folders saved on Mac and shared via AFP, this is mapped through AD home folder path, and then the user preferences come from Open Directory. However we continue to have niggly problems and they are becoming increasingly disruptive. For instance, today the OS X Server randomly decided to stop working and all classes could no longer login or save. We had to restart for things to come back to normal. This happens every month or so. Increasingly the Mac clients will start to run incredibly slow, and you cannot launch applications or open documents almost as if the connection to the server has been dropped. After a few minutes, the connection will re-establish. The server is more than powerful enough to handle the number of requests it is getting though, so I don't know why it would stop. There are a bunch of errors in the console on the server but I'm not exactly sure what they are all about. There is also an issue with Logic Pro it will be working fine, students will save work and then when they come back to it the next day the file isn't saved completely and cannot be opened. :/ We were hoping there may be someone in the North West of England who is in a similar (allbeit more successful) situation and would be able to let us visit or pass on some advice and guidance! Please please please someone help us, we may be able to offer help in other areas in exchange!! Thanks, Joel
