  1. We have a couple of Aerohive AP's deployed and working successfully, albeit after much fiddling and experimentation! I'd be interested in hearing about these "unique ways" - would you mind expanding on that a little, please?
  2. Last time we needed some, I telephoned them and asked how we'd go about getting hold of some; the very helpful chap on the phone send me a pack of 10 or so, free of charge! This probably isn't normal practice, but it may be worth asking!
  3. Found a muffin in the back of a PC... the cases were relatively easy to open; we have since added padlocks.
  4. I'm fairly sure it's correct - I proofread quite a bit (for "fun"!), sometimes for a UK publisher. Also, see Problems with apostrophes - the section starting "Timing".
  5. Just being pedantic, but "48 hours notice" should be "48 hours' notice" (apostrophe after the s), and "Yours Faithfully" should be "Yours faithfully" (lower case F). Personally, I would also change "I hope to hear from you soon" to "I look forward to hearing from you soon". Otherwise, great.
  6. If you PM me your email address, I'll send you a PDF.
  7. I run one at school - we cover computer programming (BASIC) and have progressed to building PCs, installing Linux, setting up a network etc. I have some materials I've prepared which I can email you if you like.
  8. Not bad pricing; the device is excellent - I've had mine for a couple of months or so and am still using it daily. The number of apps is slowly improving; once the Android player (and apps) become available, it'll help. But for web browsing, and using in conjunction with my Blackberry Torch for email and calendaring, it's great. I bought mine whilst on holiday in Canada when they came out, so had it for a short while before they were released over here. The original software was a little slow and battery life pretty miserable - but a software update soon afterwards fixed both of those. I get nearly a week's use from the battery, with WIFI and Bluetooth on continuously.
  9. Thanks. Safe mode? I'm imagining all the control room screens being in low-resolution...
  10. Sadly, it appears to have been postponed, both according to the video feed and the Arianespace.com website - but I can't find a reason as to why, due to numerous 'Service unavailable' errors on the website..!
  11. OK, I think I may have a solution for you - check your Outlook settings (Account settings) - there's an option to have email delivered to the local .PST file only. You want to change this so that email's delivered to the Inbox for the user's account on the Exchange server. The only reason I can think for having it configured to store locally would be due to lack of disk space on the server. If this is no concern, I can't see why you shouldn't change it back to the more standard way of working.
  12. Yes, you're right, that's how it should work by default. I've just had a very quick look (and will look in more detail shortly) at my config here, and with a Microsoft Exchange email account configured in Outlook, I can't immediately see why the emails are not being retained on Exchange. Can you try Outlook Web Access on an existing, not-yet-swapped PC to see if the emails that are in Outlook are also on the server?
  13. Are the Outlook clients configured to use POP3 to collect their email from the Exchange server? That might explain why the emails are 'downloaded' into Outlook, rather than simply viewed in Outlook. By default, using Outlook with Exchange, you should find the emails are stored on the Exchange server so that a user moving to another PC still sees all their Exchange-based email. They should also be visible via Oulook Web Access too.
  14. Blackberry Playbook: Your user agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Playbook; U; RIM Tablet OS 1.0.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.11+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.1.0.7 Safari/534.11+
  15. In some of my previous posts I've discussed how we've configured The Dude to monitor our network servers, switches, etc. We've also configured it to send email/pager notifications, and I can think of a couple of ways that SMS could be integrated - if you'd like some more info, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the document on how we've set it all up. (Also, The Dude is free.)
  16. Anyone else notice that 'borders' was misspelled as 'boarders'...?
  17. Is this any use? Pack of 2 Standard 5 Pin Din Plug Audio Connector 240 | eBay
  18. We have one of these things; they're quite useful, too: PSU Tester: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
  19. We had this issue until just recently. I was looking through the event logs, trying to find some clue as to what was going on. Eventually found an error that looking intriguingly relevant, only to discover that there was "no further help" available on this error from Microsoft's website. Great! Anyway, some searching later turned up the following article: An update to turn off default SNP features is available for Windows Server 2003-based and Small Business Server 2003-based computers Applying the downloadable fix to each of our Windows 2003 servers has dramatically reduced all Windows 7 logon times. Hope this helps!

    STS-135

Watching NASA TV here ... very interesting with a number of on-board cameras as well as just outside the door of the shuttle. Shame it's the last one... I would have loved to see a launch.
  21. I have to say we're using a number of Blackberries with no problem; Blackberry Enterprise Server Express is now free, and works very well - have never had to touch it since installing, which was a very straightforward process. A number of staff use personal Blackberries and we've managed to simply add their work email alongside their personal email, and there have been no complaints and no problems.
  22. Thanks - at least that sounds like a reasonable rate to be hoping for, then!
  23. Hi everyone, We are using Backup Exec 12.5 to backup our servers to a pair of NAS devices (and these are later duplicated to tape). Both of these NAS boxes have 1Gbit network connections (and this is set in the card config to avoid it dropping to 100Mbit or lower), and plenty of disk space (6TB and 8TB). They are connected to the network via a dedicated gigabit switch and fibre, both of which (as far as possible) carry only traffic for backups. Both NAS devices are available to Backup Exec as a device pool, with no differentiation - jobs are targeted at the pool. Originally, the problem appeared to be as follows: jobs backing up to the first NAS ran at 400+MB/min (some around 600+MB/min). Jobs backing up to the second NAS ran at around 30-50MB/min. Initially, this appeared to be a loading issue - but reducing the number of simultaneous jobs didn't really make a difference. I now also see the issue when jobs are running to either NAS, apparently regardless of loading. I am at a bit of a loss as to what to try changing - I've rebooted all devices in the chain to no effect; it doesn't appear to be caused by certain jobs or certain servers, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be most grateful! Thanks!
  24. As a very simple start, renaming the account to something other than 'administrator' isn't a bad a idea. We also don't use accounts with domain admin rights unless we specifically need to.
  25. I successfully use my USB charging leads/plugs interchangeably - allows me to leave one at home, one at work, etc. At home, for example, I charge my Blackberry, Kindle and Playbook all from the same USB lead (which I think was originally the Kindle's).
