About derienzo

 1. Hi all, I am trying to create a metapackage to install all additional Logic/Garageband content for our Macs at the school I work in. There are around 20 packages already that I am trying to put into one big package installer to make my life a lot easier when using Remote Desktop to install said package. I have been trying to use PackageMaker to do this but unfortunately whenever I drag a package into the program it only shows up as a "?" instead of a package file. This happens with all these packages, however it doesn't happen with other packages I have on my computer. No data appears to get put into the package when I create it if the "?" is there. Only a reference of the package. I have also tried Iceberg for Mac and had the same problem except on Iceberg it does not allow me to drag any of these packages in at all. It should also be noted that the packages don't give me the option to show additional contents, although I know they install to Library/Application support. I have checked the install contents using pacifist and then also attempted to install the folders inside the packages using packagemaker, but this just seems to crash my machine. There must be an easier way to install multiple packages without this hassle, any answers? Thanks
 2. Hi, I am currently writing an applescript that will activate remote login and remote management from system preferences AND add the admin account under "Allow access for:" Here is what I currently have, tell application "System Preferences" activate delay 0.5 set current pane to pane "com.apple.preferences.sharing" end tell delay 0.5 tell application "System Events" to tell process "System Preferences" clickcheckbox 1 of row 7 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of group 1 of window "Sharing" delay 0.3 clickcheckbox 1 of row 8 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of group 1 of window "Sharing" delay 0.3 end tell This succesfully activates both remote login and remote management but I can't seem to find out how to click the "+" button under these tabs, or then add the correct user. Any help would be appreciated.
 3. After talking to AVID over the past couple of weeks it seems we have finally found a permanent fix to this problem. The problem lies in Sibelius' News Check, it seems for whatever reason it tampers with students log ins. Either way the fix is described in detail in this helpful article AVID supplied me with:

How to disable the quick start RSS news feed in Sibelius 7

From here we added the application to the dock of all our music macs using workgroup manager and this meant the students can just click it once and the program seems to run perfectly after every log in. -Giovanni
 4. Thanks! That is a fantastic temporary fix, at least the students can now open the program successfully. For anyone else having the same problem this should work. Now to hope someone comes up with a permanent fix! Even Sibelius technical support are stumped at this one.
 5. Hi, I work in a school that has had Sibelius 7 recently installed on around 10 mac minis in our music department. It seems we are having problems however with the students accessing the program. When logged in as an admin on these computers, the program starts up fine and runs as expected. This is also the case when logged in to one of our teacher accounts. However when a student attempts to open Sibelius it loads all the sounds, starts up correctly but when started shows no window to start a new score. When any of the tabs (Sibelius, file, edit etc) are clicked they do not respond and you cannot start a new file or do anything for that matter. I have tried the program in both 64 bit mode and 32 bit. Additionally I have checked the license server and all IP addresses are accepted and all students have read rights to the program the same as teachers do. I have done a test on license server as well to see if the access is working and everything comes up green. Does anybody know what the issue could be?? -Giovanni
