  1. Network Manager - Bideford College Closing date:28 September 2014
  2. I told Sky I was ditching them for BT vision. I'm now paying £13.20 for 12 months rather than £34 for my Sky package. I'd stay put and haggle.
  3. If that's aimed at myself, I have... Hence my question and curiosity.
  4. Anyone had any dealings with/experience of Kimsufi? Kimsufi: affordable dedicated server! Seems incredibly low prices for what is being sold as dedi's?
  5. I'd be interested in the response to this. Seems overkill for the job to require a degree.
  6. +1 for Three bring awful! And they're meant to be an "up and coming" network. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/uks-best-worst-mobile-networks-revealed-ee-outperforms-084656782.html
  7. Not sure if its still an issue. When I had the app, a text would come through on both the mobile signal and TuGo. So double alert every time I get a text. Apart from that, it was very good.

    BT FTTC

Pretty certain FTTP is 330 down 30 up maximum with BT currently isn't it? Even still, the rental on it is £150 per month through BT business. Couldn't possibly justify that as a home user!
  9. Whole family opted-out over the phone! Done.
  10. Thumbs up for SagePay. I believe the commission they take is pretty competitive as well.
  11. Haha, irony of website of the month and Heart Internet's mobile site is a heap of junk! 5 stars of course for VeryPC
  12. I recently did this for a small business on a budget. I went with: Cameras - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046710G6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_Nil1tb04G6QHSV4A Software - http://blueirissoftware.com Wouldn't go too cheap on the software and would definitely recommend getting a paid version. I've used the above software and it works a charm for not a huge amount of money
  13. Would avoid cPanel hosts such as Godaddy, Hostgator as they limit CPU + RAM which moodle can be quite hungry for.
  14. At my previous job, the sheer volume of traffic hitting our moodle meant realistically hosting it internally was our only option. That was 1300+ students with at least 100 concurrent at any one time in school hours. If you are only 300, external could probably work for you.
  15. http://www.swgfl.org.uk/policy More policies/e-safety resources free to use for UK schools. SWGfL are an appalling ISP but fantastic at e-safety.

  17. Did this for our A level students. Just fired up a 2k8 R2 server, IIS 7.5 with PHP, Python. MySQL server with PHPMYADMIN front end for students to trash and finally Filezilla for FTP uploads. Works really well and is all internal so they can trash it without any real consequence apart from their area on that web server.
  18. 53 miles each way... Pretty much all rural roads so about 1hr 30 each way. Beauty of Devon and Cornwall, anywhere below Exeter has virtually zero Network Manager IT jobs advertised.
  19. Ending today (04/07/14) at 12:00
  20. Need some advice on making the jump from a deputy NM to Network Manager. Want to make the move in the next 12 months and am after advice from current NM's or those who have done the same move in the past? What do I need to make this move? What skills? What experience? Biggest difference compared to deputy/senior tech? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Apologies if this thread has been done before.
  21. Spotted this and hadn't seen it advertised on Edugeek. Devonport High School for Girls
  22. +1 for PRM Green Tech! Good company to work with.
  23. Anyone had any experience/dealings with OpenMesh? Open Mesh | Cloud-Managed Wireless Networks Keeps grabbing my attention.
