  1. Yes, integration with Google Drive and Dropbox its great. In Schoology you have an area called Resources, where teachers have material they already prepared (documents, links, discussions, pages, tests, etc.), all your documents in Google Drive are "connected" to this area and also you can use files on Googe Drive to create new assignments or discussions directly. It's really easy to integrate, you just "install" the app on you profile by inputing your username and password and thats all. I'll suggest you to create a free account on Schoology, install the Google app, and test it yourself, its very easy. Let me know if you have any other doubts, no problem to help.
  2. Yes, by now it has been very successfull, we didnt forced teachers to use it and we already have 1200 accounts and a lot of submissions, discussions, etc. created by teachers. I really recommend it. If you have any doubts let me know. It is 100% cloud.
  3. Just an update on how we proceeded and the results by now. After an initial 15 minutes presentation of the system, 30 teachers created their accounts in two days, which was quite surprising as we didn't expect this level of acceptance. Since then, we have been doing workshops of one hour per week (only for teachers), and currently, in two months, we have 700 active users (most of them students). Teachers are very excited with the tool and started using it without having to "ask" them to do.
  4. Hi all, I found Schoology (http://www.schoology.com) more as a Learning Management Solution, but didnt find that category on the forum so I'm posting on the second more accurate. We are starting testing this software and would like to have some opinions from collegues already using it or anyone that already analized it, even some similar systems recomendation would be welcome. Thanks to all.

    MIS Selection

    No problem! Thanks!
  6. Dear all, As some of you know, i'm from Montevideo Uruguay. Over this latitudes, every minor or large administration system allows the company/institution to have balances/accounts/reports in two or more currencies. In general, all the system is based in one currency, but every purchase, invoice, etc. can be entered in other currencies, and the institution have bank accounts on this other currencies. So, transactions are usually recorded on this two coins, the system base currency (pesos uruguayos), and the original movement currency (dollars, pounds, etc.). Does anyone knows or can recomend an MIS system with administration/finance module with this functionality? Many thanks, Regards, Juan Puig.

    MIS Selection

Hi there, thank you all for your replies. I started with some demos from SIMS and already arranged with Furlong and Bromcom, still no news from Aspen. I found an initial major problem, SIMS doesn't support multicurrency finances and administration, which is a must over this latitudes as balances have to be taken normally in two currencies, and in some cases in three or more. I can't find clear information over the other systems on this issue. I'll open another thread with a question regarding this. By now the candidates are: Bromcom, Aspen, SchoolBase, RM - Integris, Educaria.
  9. Good morning everyone, I'm new on this forum, I've already looked for the information of this post, please if there is any other post similar to this point it to me. I work on a private school in Uruguay, we have PREP, Form and Higher education, with local and IB diploma. Currently we have a large MIS system developped inside the school since about 2006 with lots of the main functionality of the big MIS systems. We are having problems on the maintenance, all our time is spent on correcting errors, and the implementation of new functionality also takes too long time, tipical problems of a bad maintenance of the system and poor development. I started to work here from about 6 months ago. Also we have a complete Administration program, fully integrated with the academic program developped in house, which is very old too and users are demanding reports and functionalities very hard to do (and in some cases imposible, like a cashflow) on this system. This is why we began the process of acquiring a new MIS system. By now I found three big candidates: SIMS, Bromcom, Aspen. The question is to have some references/experiences/recomendations of those of you that already past this process. Would like to share some questions/comments on this process. I used to work on a pharmaceutical company with a large world class ERP system on different countries and sites, so I'm very familiar with large systems and their implementation. Also if any of you can point to documents or web pages with analysis on this it would be really appreciated. Please let me know if some of you would like to spend some time on this or if I can post some questions here. Many thanks.
