Does this work?: if fault = "fault" and black = true Then response.write("faulty black") 'test clause response.end 'test clause rsAddRoom.fields("faultyblack") = rsAddRoom("faultyblack") + 1 Else If fault = null and black = true Then response.write("faulty null, black replaced") 'test clause response.end ' test clause rsAddRoom.fields("usedblack") = rsAddRoom("usedblack") + 1 End if End if

My advice is to give yourself a break, prioritise, realise that you can only do so much in a days work and make time outside work for other interests. If lower priority tasks don't get done then it is not the end of the world and at least you will then have a case for more manpower.

Email Clients For Schools Advice Please?
u8dmtm replied to joshjacklin's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I sugest considering Google Apps Education Edition or Microsoft Live@Edu, both are free for schools, both come with SLAs and Live@Edu comes with Outlook Web Access (Outlook Live) and Exchange Live. I can't see how any school can justify the cost and overheads of running an on-site Exchange or similar server when this is now available. -
When you say you are coming under "sales pressure" what do you mean? As the customer, you are in the driving seat so my sugestion would be to document exactly what you want and what you are willing to spend and then give it to a range of suppliers to fight it out, highlight the need for value for money, support and innovation.

Epson EB-450WI - Screen Surface Suggestions
u8dmtm replied to MYK-IT's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We are using the EB-450wi's in rooms which don't have Classboards, not replacing them, so the image is being projected onto standard old-fashioned white boards rather than electronic interactive whiteboards (Classboards / Smartboards etc). -

We were using RM Classboards of varying sizes. -

Couldn't comment on that as we don't have Smartboards. However I am reliably informed that the Smart software works, assuming you have the licences to install it. -
Epson EB-450WI - Screen Surface Suggestions
u8dmtm replied to MYK-IT's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We use them and project onto the existing (not interactive) whiteboard. There is no reflection issue due to the angle of the light and the smooth surface of the whiteboard works really well with the Epson pen. Personally I see no reason to ever buy another interactive whiteboard again (except if you really must have touch sensitivity). -
As a result of a member of staff leaving for a new post and a subsequent restructuring of the department, an ICT Strategy Leader post has become available: West Kirby Grammar School (Wirral, North West England)

Did the performance rating and it didn't change anything. We're using Server 2003 DCs, could that be the issue as the 'Force specific visual styles..' GPO isn't on it. Set it locally to the Aero theme but that too doesn't work. I'm also getting a blank back background instead of the Group Policy wallpaper, all very frustrating.
-
Just added our first Windows 7 station to our domain and everything was fine except that domain users get a horrible basic grey taskbar and windows instead of Aero. This issue did not affect our Vista stations when we added them. Can anyone sugest why aero is disabled / not working, it works for local users and domain admin users.

We want to give our caretakers cordless phones which work truly site-wide. We currently have a mix of BT Elements cordless phone which works for a limited range and walkie-talkies which work everywhere but are not connected to the phone system. The phone system is Mitel, on a separate infrastructure managed by our LA and we have site-wide wireless on our data network. Does anyone have any sugestions about the cheapest way to allow the caretakers to have a cordless phone which anyone on the school phone system can call, that works across a roughly 200m x 200m site of multiple buildings?

SIMs - Extract timetables in file form for use on VLE
u8dmtm replied to nicklec's topic in MIS Systems
We use commandreporter to schedule data exports from SIMS, including timetable. If your report was of the XML format you could then apply a XSLT transform to it to get a formatted page. -
Or if you are / should be using PRINCE2: OGC - Business case
-
We use basic Sharepoint (wss) with webparts such as Microsoft Sharepoint Learning Kit, SIMS Learning Gateway and others.

OK, so in terms of the original question is it foolish move or not?

The Tories are likely to win the election, they are preparing an 'austerity budget' and have not commited to BSF and in fact say they want to 'get away from' that model.
-
Given the impending election and likely cuts in spending on leading labour programmes (such as BSF) would it be foolish to move from a well-paid job in a school which is long way off being BSF'd into a better paid private sector job in a company heavily focussed on BSF. Any thoughts welcome.

Does anyone here have a good / cheap supplier of Sun Ray Smart Cards? Depending on price we ideally want cards that can also be used for a future, as yet undefined proximity based access control solution such as Paxton Net2. We'd also like to be able to have artwork applied whether its a dual purpose card or not, probably via us buying a card printer so that we can print new cards for new staff members without having to do another big order.

We use a lot of HP dc7800 and dc7900s they have 3 year onsite warranty included as standard, decent specs and you can get good deals via re-sellers like Insight and SCC.

We've used Datrix Training and QA Training in past, both of which provided very good quality training on PRINCE2 and ITIL, they do offer technical courses too.

Remote Support of Thin Client Sessions
u8dmtm replied to u8dmtm's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Turns out that NetSupport works on thin client, which is great news. -
We're about to implement Sun Ray thin clients which will deliver Windows TS desktops as well as SSGD. Does anyone know if we will be able to 'remotely support' TS sessions like we do with NetSupport on our fat clients? I'm thinking about scenarios such as where the service desk gets a call asking a 'How to?'

I would say terminal server is the way to go.

Our internet connection has been woeful this academic year due to a combination of LEA level NetSweeper filtering faults and most seriously an apparant 'contractual dispute' between the North West Learning Grid and their internet service provider (e.g Internet off yesterday, this morning and one full day last week). If your school's connection is via it's LEA and NWLG have you experienced these issues and alternativly if not who is your ISP?
