Smoothwall Youtube filtering
tdk1069 replied to tdk1069's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
PM'd with some details thanks -
Smoothwall: Youtube blocked as expected if you type in www.youtube.com but if you click on a youtube video from websearch it allows you in. Having spoken extensively with smoothwall 2nd line support they believe it's a caching issue as if you clear cache, it blocks from websearch, until you refresh and then it's back in your cache and working! It works fine in edge so an issue between chrome and smoothwall. Has anyone come across this issue with smoothwall? If so did you manage to fix it? Smoothwall support want us to completely disable caching in chrome, but we can't find a way of actually doing this. We've tried hacks such as changing the cache location to something that doesn't exist and changing the max cache to 1mb.

Smoothwall IDex Agent not working
tdk1069 replied to 5tu's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
If it's what happened at two of our schools reboot fixed it (we have failovers too! and one school is a child of the other) but only till the purge, We ended up just turning off the 3am purge at both those sites in the "Hidden Backen" (Still laugh at the name) @ /ui/admin/hbd -
Smoothwall IDex Agent not working
tdk1069 replied to 5tu's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We had an issue recently where iDex stopped working totally every night after the login purge , reboot smoothwall and it all worked again. No one was being authenticated and getting the basic levels where applicable (Tho these were all domain joined machines) In the end we had to disable the "Enable Daily login purge" and it stopped happening. Always had it on, always at 3am, then just stopped... -
foreach ($user in (get-aduser -Filter * -searchBase "")) {Set-ADUser $user -GivenName $user.Surname -Surname $user.GivenName } Quick n Dirty (Shhh you lot) . if you aren't logged in as someone with permissions you'll need -Credential (var with creds in) feel free to add -WhatIF to the set-aduser to preview first *cough check!*

c:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Makerbot\MakerbotPrint\ I forgot that isn't on the website sorry we have an internal kb for it now, and yeah it just skips the logon totally
-
We ended up having ours in offline mode... replace the user_config.json file from the kb they have there https://support.makerbot.com/s/article/MakerBot-Print-Network-Configuration-Requirements

in regex "." is 'Any single character' so it would have matched 121314 as well. \. just escapes the "." to be a literal dot.. regex101.com is my bible
-
As I understand it. -match is regex so you would want $searchTerm = "1\.1\.1\." ❯ $searchTerm = "1\.1\.1\." ❯ "1.1.1." -match $searchTerm True ❯ "1.1.10." -match $searchTerm False

You aren't the first to say that ! Friend I sent it to mentioned Silent Hill

Hyper-V virtual machine - static MAC address...
tdk1069 replied to Koldov's topic in Windows Server 2012
I had this when our Autodesk Inventor license server went offline due to a change in mac ! (Completely slipped my mind it was mac bound) I just (hyper-v) made it static and left it with the one it had generated when I got the license key to save me having to regenerate it. Never had a problem since. -
I used a quick and dirty powershell script to create a vcf file for each student to import (This doesn't update photos unfortunately) and then encode the image into the vcf, after that you can zip all the vcf's together and import that one zip into Net2

Obvious question (Sorry) you have a transparent Authentication proxy set up with core authentication on the appropriate interface? -
Smoothwall Authentication Issue
tdk1069 replied to Jarv's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hiya, I just went to IDex on our DCs recently and had to do a firewall rule to allow it to contact Smoothwall (Linky) after that we then had *some* users showing up as ip rather than usernames, Turns out if you have things in your exceptions lists it won't even bother to work out a username and just throw an IP at you. We removed all but the bare essentials on the Auth exceptions and lots of user names started to pop in. -
We are using option 3 at the moment as I just don't have any more time to devote to currently. We had all the printers installed (via machine policy, but direct to the printer IP not via the print server) All I did was move them to user & point them via the print server so PaperCut would track it and still got prompts for installing drivers so not sure why it ignores the drivers from the first GPO... But... Project for later on now..
-
I've yet to find a way to get it to work reliably, Having had to just change our gpo (Created by a helpful Project Manager with Domain Admin access) They added all 83 printers via IP and not printer share so I'm having to revert as well, and finding most still prompt for drivers even having had the driver installed by the original gpo. With the occasional ones just just won't play the game at all. This has been such a huge time sink when have site mergers and new domain to set up
-
We doing it as part of a merge, so 2 RM into 1 AD... Twice the fun !

In that process now ! cc4

CC3 --> Vanilla Windows (without wiping?)
tdk1069 replied to CyBeRkId2002's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Thanks muchly. I quite literally got it working by making the share available to System. Was way over thinking it. Do like the SCCM idea tho! thanks -

Quick Question, How are people running the StartMenu.ps1 ? Logon script, start up script? I've tried both and can't get it to work (either no access to the share, or no access to the programdata folder) -
Microsoft Office 365 Teams Assignments Not Loading

Yeah I have to admit I forgot to mention that, My mobile worked flawlessly everytime as well. It's why we even logged a call thinking it was something proxy/firewall/filtering related on desktops. -
Microsoft Office 365 Teams Assignments Not Loading
tdk1069 replied to chrisjako's topic in Cloud Services
We logged a couple of calls with microsoft about this now. Just keep telling us that its busy and overloaded - then when it quietens down they call and tell us it's fixed -
That was the data cleansing we did in sims. few of us just pulled up a quick report of pupils/staff without primary work emails and quickly changed them (They were almost always in sims, just set wrong) after that we dropped down to only a few staff who are oddballs themselves who didn't come over. I've re-uploaded the csv a few times to correct assignments as sims has been fixed in prep.
