  1. Hi We have this a lot and it is generally down to a hardware lockout on the router (especially when it gets hot). Power down the router(s) for a few seconds and try again! These can be very odd as anyone connected when the system "locks out" can reconnect fine just anyone that wasnt connected still cannot connect! The other thing to check is on the DHCP server to make sure you have enough free addresses for the amount of systems on the network!

    Lapsafe

Hi All I have just read through this thread with interest. I am surprised that the reseller's whom you purchased the trolley's from haven't dealt with these issues for you? We have been a Lapsafe reseller for 4+ years with many clients and we have always liased with Lapsafe regarding any issues with the systems on behalf of the educational establishments to ensure customer satisfaction. From our close working with Lapsafe we have never had any issues of this kind and Lapsafe have always been extremely helpful. It is the reseller (lapsafe do not sell direct) that sells the trolley and they should be the first port of call if there is an issue that is not under the standard warranty, after all they are the ones who ultimately sell them to you. We always take ownership of issues with anything we sell to ensure our clients get the support they require! After all customer service is one of the largest differentiating factors these days!
  3. Hi There We do maintenance for several local schools and tend to do the following on workstations annually: Check all fans and replace if required. Clean system out (With a compressor) Check case / keyboard / mouse for damage and wear and tear Tidy all cables and reseat them all checking the connections fit properly Turn on all PC's and then restart (Listen for PSU fans failing and Optical drives) Scandisk and Defrag all Hard drives. We tend to do this maintenance on the server quarterly and monitor the event logs for critical errors daily. On the server we also do a quarterly check of all UPS, retension backup tapes, clean tape drives, clean up old exchange mailboxes and defragment exchange. Depending on the systems you have in place the list could go on for ever !
  4. Hi There I would give this a go: http://www.download3k.com/Security/Access-Control/Download-Internet-Administrator.html - One of our customers has it to restrict a single PC internet access and they say its good - havent touched it myself though! Must be worth a go as its free !
  5. Hi There Have you had a look at the Everum UMPC offering with a 7" screen. they look interesting: http://www.raondigital.com/fnt_english/
  6. Hi All Im just wondering if anyone out there has actually had some ideals that have come to fruition and any benefits they have gained from this? If they have (or any that have come close, or other success stories) would they be willing to send us a "report" on this that we could share with our education customers on our regular newsletters when we start them up again? You would of course get full credit and a copy of the newsletter and we can maybe negotiate a "gadget" for any we use as a thank you?
  7. I would recommend having a full project quotation done by at least 3 companies, especially for the cabling as this can vary wildly and this will give you a fixed price instead of working at an hourly rate! Where are you based?
  8. Hi How many beeps (Long beeps or shoprt beeps) does it do? I would check the RAM as this is the most likely cause of rebooting, but if you let me know the POST code (Beeps) I may be able to help more !
