the capacity is 800GB COMPRESSED and 400GB native

I have rebooted the server about 5 times. I had to reboot because it would eject the tape. I havent tried cleaning tape.

if you look at the job monitor snapshot above, you can see that the Elapsed Time for the back up is over 90 hours which mean that the job was running for (nearly 4 days) and the Byte count is showing Tirabytes. but it would not reject the tape I had to manualy eject the tape. after the manual eject, the Current Job was scheduled to 3 days ago and when i enter a tape the drive ejects it, and to get it schedule ie for today I had to restart the server and insert the tape and then it will accept the tape, and then the same will happen tomorrow and i had to manually eject the tape.

I have reinstall Sophos and the server became very slow again. I have disabled the on access scanning it is still very slow.

our backup has been failing for the past few days. the byte count shows that it does backup data but the Job Status says FAILED the job monitor says and the job history is I couldnt work out why it is happening.

yes I have restarted the server twice. I will do it again now. But once everything comes back to normal shall I go a head with the Sophos installation, if yes should i do anything different, as Sophos was the reason for bringing the server almost to a halt until i un-installed it.

But why do you think the 2 services 1. Sophos Anti-Virus 2. Sophos Anti-virus status reporter services are still running and shows started in Services. the reason i am asking is i removed Sophos from the server, sophos does not exist on this server any more yet the services are running

I have run the comand and this is what it shows, I dont know what to look in to from here.

I have uninstalled Sophos and the performance of the server picked up it is 10 times better but the CPU performance still shoots up to 90 to 100%. I believe the svchost.exe process corresponds to sophos, since i have uninstalled sophos why is the process in the process list of task manager furthermore i opened Services and noticed that the Sophos Anti-Virus and Sophos Anti-virus status reporter services are still running and shows started why is that? sophos does not exist on this server.

i have 20GB free on c drive and 30GB free space on D drive, so the hard drive usage is not that much. i havent got anythign install to indicate the CPU temprature, can you suggest one.

The server is built by Learning Network Manager. I have disabled the Sophos on access scanning but the problem is still there. it is not only internet explorer that causes the CPU usage to shoot up it launching any application or windows explorer causes the CPU to reach 90 to 100% used

Our server performs very slow sometimes takes ages to do any thing at all. When you open the task manager there are only 8 processes running and the CPU shows 10 to 20% as soon as you launch internet explorer it jumps to 95 to 99% and works very slowly. in task manger on the performance tab the PF (page File Usage is showing 415 MB to 420MB but the PF graph does not show anything it is completely blank). We have Sophos running and I installed Spybot to check for worms, there are no viruses or anything. The spec of the server is as follows: Intel®Xeon CPU 3.00GHz, 2GB of RAM 80GB hard drive partitioned to 2 with (30GB For the C drive where server 2003 is installed) There are only 4 software packages installed on this server: Speed Step Edixcel Online Testing software (which came to a halt last Thur because the server was performing slowly) Office Sophos Please let me know if you have a clue why this may be happening as you can see the spec of the server is not too bad. thanks

I have put forward my concerns to the contractor, but he is trying to put the blame on my department, saying that we have done something wrong causing the switches to pack up, which has greatly frastrated me, and he is trying to get me out of the picture and speak to my line manager. i have explained the cause of the problem and the delayed response from the company and she has fully backed me up. I dont see a positive reation between me and the contractor hence i want to bring someone else in.

I will find out whether it is the LEA, but please let me know whether it will be an easy process to change the scope

we are based in north west London

For the past 8 years our school has a single contractor who is doing our cabling, switches and wireless APs (basically all the infrastructure work). I have only started working in this school for the past 4 months and i noticed that they do not do a professional job (our library was down for over a week because of a faulty switch but they were taking their time to attend). I am now strongly considering finding another company to provide us with the services stated, point to be noted is that we also have to keep the current contractor because of the work they done in the past is covered under their maintenance. but I am worried whether having 2 or more contractors will generate more problems such as blaming each other for problems that may arise in the future. Please advice me on the above and if you think there will be no problem then could you give me your suggestion that which company should i use that you have experience with and do a good job and are (professional, competitive, reliable). thanks
