This is actually really simple. You have, I assume, a Dynamic Distribution Group set up for the staff and one for all the pupils. Assuming this is right: In each of the distribution group properties, within the tab Mail Flow Setting there is a Message Delivery Restrictions option. In delivery restrictions you can setup who can and who can't email this distribution group. So if you only want teacher to be able to send to the students then go to the student distribution group and within the delivery restrictions select the radio button for only accept messages from - Only senders in the following list, click on add and either select the teachers you would like to be able to email the students or if you would like all the teacher you can simply add the Teachers Dynamic Distribution group. This way you won't have to remember to add a new teachers individually to this list, as long as the dynamic distribution group is working. The other thing to remember is that if you only allow the teacher distribution group then people from outside won't be able to email the distribution group. Hope this helps.

I think I'm getting exactly the same problem as you are.... When I have the single sign-on system active I get a red message on the normal logging window 'The Single Sign On system has failed to locate you user details.'. Again I have everything configured correctly in the CMIS controller and have had Facility look at it. Are you able to get the linked LDAP user window up populated with the usernames from AD?

One of my schools made the move from SIMS to Facility coming up to 4 years ago now. At the time we were having serious issues with SIMS. I would say personally say that Facility is better (although I can't compare it to the current SIMS). You do have to have a couple of really good people on board that will really lead the move and continue to lead throughout the first year or two of the move. You will hit hurdles and we found that the data migration from SIMS was far less complete than we had expected. I would recommend that you speak to a couple of schools, locally if possible that will help you implement a real world database a help advise you on some important decisions that need to be made. More than willing to help if you need it. Facility is very flexible and customisable. Reporting in facility is very different to SIMS. Much better in some ways but sometimes I feel you need to be a rocket scientist to understand them. They are completely rewriting their reporting system just now which should help.
