Such a horrible thing to happen especially two days before the start of a new term, apparently according to the Fire & Rescue service no one was injured, which is always a good thing. What goes through someone's mind when they do something like that I don't know, know. Looking at the Lancashire Fire & Rescue Twitter the majority of the school just looks like a burnt out shell. I work at a high school down the road and can only hope that the pupils can be catered for either through the creation of a temporary school or at other schools. A

We have some older versions of these as well. They provide plenty of sound even in some of the biggest rooms, we also have them in the music room as they give really clear sound. A

Thanks for the suggestion both those laptops look fantastic. The lid catches aren't a necessity it's just something I have always found useful on a laptop while it is being transported around. A

First of all I didn't know where to put this so feel free to move it is necessary. My 'little' brother starts university in September doing an engineering degree course and needs a new laptop, his old one is Pentium 4 and a very slow one at that. He has swallowed his pride and come to me for help . A desktop is out of the question because apparently he wants the 'portability of a laptop', even though his current one hasn't left the desk in about 4 years. I have already told him about HP Probook's as we run a few at school and are quite impressed, but I have told him to look for any starting with the model number 6 because they have a locking catch and look sturdier which would be required for him as he's not brilliant at looking after things. I have built up a list of things he would like to have and could do with some ideas as to suitable laptops so any help is appreciated. Intel i5 processor or AMD Equivalent Large hard drive or Solid State Drive HD Graphics or Dedicated Graphics 64-bit motherboard If possible 8gb or 16gb of memory (but I can always upgrade that for him if need be) USB 3.0 Decent battery life Ideally strong and resistant to hits and knocks (student life) Ability to run high memory graphics applications He's looking at a cost from anything around £350 (fat chance) to £900 (more like it) That's it really if anybody can think of anything I should let him know then please let me know. We went to an IT sales exhibition this morning and there was a bloke from HP showing off the ElitePad which runs full Windows 8 Professional. It doesn't have 4gb of ram, it only has 2gb, but can have upto 64gb storage on an built in SSD and then has an expandable memory slot to increase even further. It is military tested, apparently. Which he demonstrated by dropping the pad screen first onto the hard floor and appeared to be OK when he picked it up. It also has Gorilla Glass, and the screen can be removed using a demagnetising machine as the screen is held on using electromagnets. Looked like a very nice tablet and I was rather impressed at it operating speed on Windows 8 Professional. A

Yes we run it via the GPPs currently for a select few computers so that might be what we will do with the new ones. A

I have just been wondering how people shut the computers on site down? We currently use Ranger to shut down the staff and student PC's but we are looking at leaving Ranger off staff computers when we move to Windows 7, so I was wondering what people use to shut computer down? Thanks A

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong location. We have just got a new Windows 8 64-bit laptop. It has been decided that it would be easier to have Windows 7 on instead. Here's where we have the problem, when we have formatted the hard drive, but when we select the partition we want to install Windows onto we get the message: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style" The disc we are trying to use to install is a Windows 7 32-bit disc. I am completely out of ideas so any help would be useful. Thanks A:confused:

Yes the pastoral manger has just noticed this. I didn't pay that much attention last night as to whether their would be others set up. Possibly just ignore this petition completely as I don't think it will get enough signatures.

Yes sorry forgot to put that. It does appear that the site is just a simple Q & A but there isn't a limit as to what is deemed to be offensive question or an offensive answer. I'm not on the site, but from what I am told there isn't a report feature which allows the reporting of offensive comments. Also if you manage to contact them regarding a question or answer there appears to be no follow up. I know Facebook & Twitter are used in the same principle but not the same offensive nature as Ask.FM, it would appear that there is no one in charge of moderation or anyone who looks into comments which can be deemed to be offensive. (Again I don't use the site so can only go off word of mouth) There doesn't appear to be a proper report facility to get inappropriate comments removed. I can only apologise about the picture but that isn't me. The form must have been created through a linked Facebook account and that is the creators picture. My picture won't appear because I just signed the petition and not created. Again sorry for any offence caused. A

One of the pastoral managers at our school has created a campaign on Change.org to get Ask.fm to be closed down, it may not make any difference but I was wondering if people would be able to sign it as this site has been the choice of many bullies for attacking other for no reason. My dad still has one of those things in the garage from when he work at BT, he refuses to get rid of it keeps saying its value will increase, however I think the only thing that increases is the weight everytime I have to move it. We are looking at getting some spare bulbs for some NEC projectors. When we have looked at the prices the compatible bulbs come out about £70 cheaper but we wondered whether the quality would be anything like that of the genuine bulbs. Basically has anyone ever used compatible bulbs and how have you found them? A:)

This is probably no use to you but I was looking recently at the insurance prices for cars fro myself, being 19, I found that if I bought an older car for around the £1000 mark I was being charged around £4000 for insurance which is not on. However I found an offer with Mazda for a new Mazda 2 for £169 per month and when I looked at insurance the prices were around the £900 mark which although still expensive is more reasonable than the previous efforts. Toyota are also doing an offer on the Yaris Edition for £159 per month, I know these are brand new cars and probably not the kind of information you were looking for but I just though I would share my recent experience. Other than that I feel for you as I passed my driving test a year and a half ago and just haven't been able to afford the insurance. A:)
