This hasn't been a problem in the past because our lighting has been poor so shutterspeeds have been low. For example, I shoot at 120th for video and the LED projector we use sometimes is fine. If I up the shutter speed to 250th then I get the colours you mentioned. I think any decent LED light will be 400mhz+ so this shouldn't be an issue. But your right, it is deffinitely a consideration.

That sounds like an interesting option. We currently have a hybrid of fixed tungsten lighting and mobile LEDs. We use an ADJ USB adapter and a laptop, or an old Strand deck to control them. But that depends on the ability of the lighting tech, usually a student.

That is why we are looking to rewire the system, replace the dimmers etc. We currently use a mixture of tungsten fixed to the rigging and cheap LED units on stands. The LEDs have demonstrated their versatility, but are just not good enough. They were very cheap, and the technology has moved on so quickly in the last few years.

Hi, we are looking to replace our old tungsten stage lighting with LED units. I was just wondering if anyone here has updated their wiring and dimmer packs for this purpose. And if they can give me a rough idea of the cost, and any unforseen problems that may have arrisen? I don't need prices for fixtures, we will be looking at that later. I just need to know how much a rewire is likely to hit us for? Thanks in advance.

Hi Triggerhappy, the Messaging Policy should be effective on all chat, messages and meetings, for the account it is applied to. So should be a blanket setting to mute troublesome accounts. We could use the mute option within individual teams. But the owners of these teams don't seem to be monitoring them effectively. So a blanket ban is called for.

Hi Olliedawg. we do exactly the same thing. A seperate custom messaging policy with everything turned off except the report options. Applied to individuals. We had one student still listed as having the policy applied. And I remember it working when we applied it some time ago. That student has since left. But now when I apply the policy to a student account it has no effect. I am testing it with a test student account, and apparently the policy is applied and is the "effective policy". But I can still reply in Teams etc.

Hello, I have been asked to block a student from all teams chat and messaging. We set up a policy some time ago for just this purpose, and it worked fine. But now it appears to be totally ineffective. Student accounts with the policy applied can still reply to chats in teams etc. I can see the Disabled Messaging policy is applied and is the effective policy. But it is having no effect. I've tried searching for clues, but keep finding page after page of instructions on how to apply the policy. Which I know how to do. But nothing about ineffective policies. Just wondering if any of you have had similar issues or heard about any updates affecting policies? Thanks in advance for any input.

Hello, if the policy applied is the default policy then it may well be applied to all users. You could try using the prebuilt Policy Packages to apply seperate policies to staff and students. Or create individual policies of your own and apply them to groups or individuals.

You are right, I am not comparing like for like. The Iiyama was possibly the cheapest interactive 75" display available. But the Samsung wasn't the cheapest TV. So we could have saved even more. True enough the Iiyama is an industrial grade device. But a target is a target when a vandal picks it, and if teachers could turn things off we would all save money.

We are currently looking at making the move from Smartboards to touch screen TVs. We have recently installed a 75" Iiyama as a tester. Teachers seem to like it and nearly all of them want one now, it does look and sound great. However, we also installed a 75" Samsung TV recently. At £1,000 cheaper than the Iiyama, we feel teachers need to make a strong case for needing a touch screen. We can prove that well over half the Smartboards we have are not currently used interactively. Also we need to consider that many tablet devices these days can cast to the screens, so teachers can just write on the tablet.

Yes DaveTheTech, when teachers hold a lesson through a teams meeting and switch to "Share Content" then select a specific PowerPoint presentation. I think if you just share a screen it is fine. But teachers seem to find it easier to monitor chat etc if they just share the presentation.

Just discovered, through trial and error, that if a PowerPoint document has an apostrophe in the file name, then it will not display in presentation mode, in a meeting, on mobile devices (so far we have tested Android, iPad and iPhone) using the teams app. Obviously there is a simple work around, but this has made a mess of several lessons over here,so just thought I would mention it.

When you browse the DVD you will see about 400 VOB files each 1GB in size (apparently). Either someone screwed up the image when burning these DVDs, or the copyright protection on them is way too aggressive. -

In cinemas from 16th October, broadcast on BBC2 this coming remembrance Sunday. https://www.iwm.org.uk/events/peter-jackson-they-shall-not-grow-old We are having major problems playing the DVD as well. W10 with VLC and others will not play it. Browsing the DVD is difficult and apparently the DVD contains 400GB of data? Plays fine on W7 Windows Media Player.
