That's exactly what I'm doing. Work has already paid for the hotel and transport tickets which is nice and I'm on food expenses as well

Two years of a combination of an unhappy marriage and comfort eating at work meant I almost tipped 20 stone (but at 6'7" not as fat looking as a tellytubby so never really noticed the gradual gain, my fighting weight has always been about 17 stone anyway). Decided to do something about it 12 months ago, left the marriage, joined slimming world as part of putting my life back together and have lost 2.5 stone in a year. Have also joined the staff football team and now coach a youth football side at weekends having passed my FA coaching and goalkeeping courses. Couldn't have done it without the support of my true friends (lost several so called friends last year) and work colleagues but 2013 is a very positive place for me right now with my life on the up and working at a great place with fab people (and the students aren't bad either...)

One large Sixth Form workroom that is all cabled with 20 PC's and well looked after (nice kids here...). Student Wifi in the workroom and common room for BYOD. Staff Wifi in the whole building. Also six dedicated sixth form classrooms, again all flood wired with cat5, two trollies of laptops that use the staff Wifi and four offices that use cat5. If it's a clean build, work out the number of Cat5 sockets you need then add a 0 to the figure and flood the whole building, cat5 is a tiny fraction of a new build cost but there is no guarantee that a room built for a specific purpose will still be doing that in 12 months time and it saves having to add new cables at a later date. Also factor in cat5 sockets high in corridors etc for wifi access points, interactive notice boards, projectors etc. I also went for 3 compartment dado trunking for all the cables rather than the nice neat cabling built into the walls, not quite as nice to look at but much easier to add new cables to. Plus, make sure that you get access to the cable trays in ceilings and especially areas where they go up and down through floors I also had cable management built into the floors of all the classrooms so the teachers desk faces forwards with only screen, mouse, keyboard and USB extension lead on the desk, the PC, AV etc is in a nice cupboard in the corner of each room out of harms way with cables running under the floor between the two. Finally, get yourself on the build committee. So much easier if you have direct access to the architect!!! Andrew

Another vote for two door grills bringing down the temp in small cupboards holding switches. Also the addition of a small simple desktop fan running in the cupboard keeps the air circulating and stops the formation of stale air pockets round the back of the cabinets which also helps with reducing temperature. Nothing beats proper air con though if it's mission critical.

These scientists have a lot to answer for. Been putting off putting up the new projector in the Drama Studio as it's a pig of a job and the world was ending today anyway. Now I've had to spend the past three hours up a ladder running cables instead of basking in the afterlife....

I agree with everything that's been said here, email belongs to the organization not the individual. However, IF you were backed into a corner and forced to do this, run portable Thunderbird on a USB stick on the work PC with the user logged in and it has a great import from outlook module that does the job nicely and leaves a standalone backup of the emails on a stick for them to take away.

To clarify, although we have converters on every machine, most use the .mp4 format and we also have the K-Lite Codec Pack installed. Tempted to get a few more now they are end of line, just to keep in a draw for future use

Internal memory is only about 8Mb tbh, all ours have 2Gb SD cards in them and we supply the cameras with card readers. We also have "any video converter" installed on every PC, so staff and students can change the format to whatever they need. Thanks for all the replies so far. To clear up a few questions, yes there is a fixed back wall that could be used if necessary but may have to move some of the wall lights to achieve it. And yes, looking to throw an image 3m wide onto a standard pull-down screen or white wall rather than anything interactive. Drama want to use it for back-drops for small year group plays etc hence why shadows are going to be a problem. Cheers Andrew

Hi Apologies for the piece of string question but can anyone recommend reasonably priced (very?)short throw projector that can throw a 3m wide picture (either 16:9 or 4:3) in a fairly bright environment? Looking for a projector for the drama department but it's a v high ceiling, completely glass fronted and can't use drop down or long vertical poles as it will cause a shadow... It's the last room in the school without a fixed projector and I can't put it off any longer Cheers Andrew
