  1. There seem to be some on AliExpress for pennies, but obviously you have all the certification and reliability issues to deal with.
  2. The CYBERUK 2026 Conference is now streaming live (my brother is at this today). A very hard event to get an invite too, so be glad you can watch it live!
  3. **UPDATE** And we are go! We have speakers, a sponsor and dates. We'll make a more authoratative announcement once we've lined up the ducks, but we are to be running EduGeek EDIT Online from the end of May through early June. We've got some amazing speakers and companies onboard and it's going to be a great event. More soon
  4. I'll move this to the correct forum, and as long as none of your machines require Windows XP and an obscure set of drivers (Poss serial port control), I would think they would be snapped up. Where in the country are you BTW, this will help greatly in getting them off your hands
  5. How about saving a few quid or so and going for a 12GB Intel ARC B580? I have one and it's rather good for the mainly older titles I play. They sorted out the driver issues ages ago. Just seen the current price of them 😬. I paid £220 and they were going for £180 last year on offer!
  6. Great waterfall pics everyone, now please stop it, as I really need the loo now!
  7. Behave or I'll make you sit on your hands!
  8. Watched the first two episodes of the final season of The Boys the other day. I hope they keep up the momentum of these episodes, as they've turned it up to 11!
  9. Welcome back everyone, we hope you all had a great easter break and are not currently running around trying to fix things that decided to break whilst you were away, but we are sure there are coffee and biscuits to fall back on
  10. I saw this article on the BBC News site the other day and found it interesting - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgqk718l4neo - as a member of genx we did tend to post a lot less than others, but it seems that this is spreading now. With apps such as WhatsApp allowing us to have private group chats for sharing things to friends, and other platforms now rampent with bots, ads and random posts from people you have never heard of I suppose this was inevitable.
  11. **BUMP** Just in case this does not appear in your new posts feed.
  12. I always wanted to try it out when I saw it on shelves, but looks like I'll not get the opportunity now. Why couldn't it have been Marmite instead (awaits incoming)?
  13. I think it should just be made clear that this thread does not refer to Juniper Networks!
  14. Hi everyone, this is just a quick announcement to let you know that, with great reluctance, we had to put EDIT 2026 on hold until the situation in the middle east began to resolve itself. We had intended to hold the conf at the end of May in Derby. As it began to drag on, we made the decision to postpone and informed the venue, exhibitors and speakers, as we couldn’t risk there being disruption to fuel prices and supply, which in turn would have affected attendance, not to mention many, including yourselves, would have booked hotels and train tickets etc. Given this weeks ceasefire (very good news) we hope things do begin to get back to normal sooner rather than later, but it is now a bit late in the day to get things going again, especially as there is still the risk of things flaring up in the region again. We are now looking to hold EDIT after the summer holidays in the same location. Fear not though, we now intend to host the May conference online in a webinar format so you still don’t miss out. This will be coupled with some events more local to some of you over the summer. We’ll not give the what, who and where’s for those yet, but we’ve had a lot of positive feedback on our plans from those who will be helping out.
  15. Ta, I could quite go for a monster flick tonight!
  16. 8 out of 12 😛 It would have been 9 but I misread the question on their HQ building. And I got a couple of lucky guesses
  17. Apple turned 50 yesterday, so happy birthday to them from all of us here. Even though most of us PC enthusiasts often give them the side-eye, there is no denying the innovations, technology leaps and advancements they have come out with over the years. Although, can we blame them for introducing the idea of the smartphone, which is an idea that has got well out of hand I think and the iPod, which then made what used to be realtively affordable headphones into major purchases. I would also note that when the iPad launched we all scratched our collective heads in the forums and tried to figure out what use it could possibly be. Sometimes, we techies are not very smart.
  18. Yeah, I may still have a Dell setup CD for that somewhere in an old binder.
  19. I watched this recently, a guy installing Windows Server 2000 on a 2001 Compaq server, as many of us did back in the day. I'm sure it was never this much of a faff, but much of this is due to the issue of not being able to get the RAID drivers to work correctly during setup (and all of he other issues he has). I'm not knocking him, as this must seem like black magic these days, but I'm sure we used to get around these problems a lot quicker than this. Or that all our floppies used to work
  20. Hi Adam, and welcome back If you can remember your old email address, we can have a look and get you your old account back. Drop me a PM and I'll see if we can't find it.
  21. Just like thse AI answers you get at the top of search engines. I've found most of them don't work, or are based on years old solutions that have been superceded. I will get my current Visio layer problem solved one day, but not by AI I suspect.
  22. Moving to the Networks and Classroom Management forum.
  23. I bought my first computer from Time (a Cyrix 200Mhz wet lettuce), and taught me a lot about doing my own upgrades and repairs! It was relatively close to me and they had a factory shop called EMIT (Time backwards). very handy for software bundles and things like joystics etc. It's the only thing I miss about Time Computers.
  24. Loved Smart Suite, real competition for MS Office. Time Computers used to bundle it with their PC's. I think Lotus was the most reliable aspect of those machines!
  25. My CD drive isn't working, and my soundcard refuses to pay 😛 Saying that, I was looking at old Shuttle PC's on eBay the other day. At one of my workplaces, we got these in (circa 2004) for desktop use, and had a mass of them plonked in a storeroom several years later when we upgraded. They now fetch a decent price, so if any of you have one in the attic, it may be worth digging it out.
