I was hoping to either just have the one device which I could access at home from anywhere in the house with my music on. My hard drive only has 160GB of HD space and my work stuff fills most of that. So I wanted something I could have all my music on, then map it as a network drive. I've got a wireless router I can connect an external HD to (through Ethernet). Speed isn't 100% an issue, providing I can pull my music from the drive and back up the odd important document. I have a 1TB drive I use for my main once a month off site backup, so this was more of a "just in case" backup. Thanks so far guys!

This is a home related question, after deciding not to get a new desktop machine and purchase a new laptop I was wanting to purchase a wireless storage device. Essentially a wireless external hard drive, which I can map as a network drive on my laptop while at home. I've seen products like D-Link DSM-G600 - Wireless Network Storage Enclosure ( NAS ) and the WD MyBook 500GB World Edition Gigabit Ethernet Hard Drive Has any one had any experience setting these up? Ideally I want to store all my music and photos on the disk and use it for occasional backups. Any ideas, suggestions or thoughts?

I was wanting to have a list of newsletters in PDF format to put onto our school website. Producing the PDFs is not a problem, having them up on the school site on a Friday Afternoon is. I was wanting a utility or service which will provide a feed of uploaded files in a box embedded onto the site. Any body got any ideas? Thanks in advance

I have a NRG DSc424 PCL 6 colour photo copier, which we have attached as a network printer. How do I use the Duplex facility on the machine when printing? There is an option on our Toshiba Photocopier for duplex printing, but the box is greyed out for the colour copier.

Can any one think of a use for old RM desktops? We've got nine just sitting around and their not being used. Can I turn them into the standalone machines to give to children (to take home) or are they just scrap?

Or would it be worth moving to cc4... Our main issue is with the price RM are quoting us for hardware... the software itself is fine for the admin and the staff (oh and the children!)

Our primary school is looking to move away from RM and the windowbox/cc3 system. Can any one offer any advice, comments or things I need to consider? We have about 50 RM branded laptops and licenses for 68 RM CC3 - does this cover windows licenses for our existing laptops if we move away from RM? We probably need a new server in the next couple of years, we are looking at getting 30 minibooks, either the HP models the the Acer EEE PCs in addition to about 8 laptops to replace the ones which have broken. Obviously price is an issue. Any ideas?

I've pretty much forgotten everythring I new about PHP, we only did a little of it at uni. Our VLE is the netmedia one, I don't think much of it - the head says we have to use it. The del.ico.us problem is that the children can still get back to their home page which might have something unsuitable on.

Is there a way of using Del.io.us to have a folder for Literacy, a folder for numeracy and what not? I'm worried about kids vering away from the links onto something very unsuitable...

For our VLe, which is a self contained unit, I was wanting to create an online links database where I could post links to sites easily, have them tagged and put into different folders/catagories. I can then link to the html page on our platform through an iFrame. I have not found anything which would let me easily post, manage and sort links. I need something which can be posted onto easily without having to edit html (which is the current way of doing things) I have used something similar using RUNcms but this requires a mySQL database and I don't really want to pay for one. Any ideas?

There is that for viewing publically, I'm worried about non staff being able to access it. Is there a way of users adding information?

We are using a learning platform and the calender is for the want of a better word; crap. I have to get together a calender for the rest of the school staff to see and use. All users have to be able to view and edit items on the calender. The calender has to be private and not able to be viewed by the public (aka found through google), but I must be able to view it when linked to it by an iframe. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi, I'm in the process of setting up our school website and I was wanting each class to link to our councils VLE, but I still want a school website banner to stay at the top of the browser window, allowing the user to surf back to our site. Can any one give me some pointers how to do this?
