The door has My Name and ICT Manager. Behind a piece of plastic. The door has a large window in it so they can see my home made ICT Technical Support Sign on the wall.

It's the last days of term here and if another teacher asks "What are you doing over the summer ?" or "Well it will be nice and easy for you over the summer, wion't it" I shall go mad and start locking network accounts... lol I have three ICT rooms to kit out and 7 interactive boards and thats just the new stuff that needs doing Anyone else suffering from the teaching staff wind down ? Should we force the government to make teachers shadow us for a year ? then they would know what we go through. Your comments please ! Could we start our own support group ? lol

Yes they do. I'm all for locking down PC's but if we don't "try" to give them the same experience they would have in the real world they won't pick up the skills for later life. Until we gave students a "My Computer" Icon all they did was save stuff through programs. Only when they saw the mess they created did they learn to put things into folders.

How do I stop students deleting or renaming their "My Computer" Icon on the desktop ? We use roaming profiles and I know there are pros to mandatory profiles but at the moment roaming profiles work for us. lol The students cannot get context menus. The way they delete it is to hightlight it and press delete on the keyboard. It's pain then because the only way we can get it back is to delete thier profile. Any ideas ?

I'm looking to move our ICT Room Booking to an online system. How do you guys do this in your schools ? Any software ?

I don't know if you've seen this before but its always good for inspections. There's only one F'in Ofsted There's only one F'in Ofsted, But that's quite enough for us. If there's no F'in lesson plan, There's one hell of an F'in fuss. There's an F'in form to fill in, For everything that's said. There'll be no F'in future, If that fails to please the Head. Sounds like one F'in photocopier Has died from overheat. There's no F'in chance at all To keep the worksheets neat. There's no F'in inspector When your lesson is first rate, And there's no F'in good excuse To explain why you were late. There should be an F'in handbook For everything to do. Tell the R.I. you left it For light reading in the loo. There's no F'in parking space, For half the F'in staff, "RESERVED" for F'in Ofsted Who have the last F'in larf. There's no F'in spiritual, Or cultural education. No F'in equality, But much in differentiation. There's only one F'in Ofsted, With its "Education Speak". Thank God there's an F'in Friday To end the F'in week.

Well we are about to be one of the trial schools for it so we will see. It's going to be interesting as I have fought for SO1 but there is a school in the next LA that just advertised a network managers job at PO2 !

Hi not sure if this the right section ask this but anyway. Has anyone been through job evaluation ? This is a government/union backed plan to sort out pay based on responsibility. Has anyone got more money out of it ?

we use maxlogons by flocs. It only costs £80 for a site licence and you'll have in running in no time at all. You add your users into groups depending on the number of times you want them to be able to log on. Say you want a year 11 Art student to be able to logon to to any two machines you just put them in the maxlogon2 group. Anyone want to demo it go here :- http://www.flocs.com/products...efault.htm

Our LEA uses RM Safetynet and this blocks alot and then we purchased surfcontrol to allow us to filter even more and surfcontrol includes a filter for proxies this seems to stop them !

I visited each workstation and used an admin account where it ran the install straight away and then I just had to walk round the room pressing enter !. It was a very quick way of doing it. If you are successful getting it done as an msi package. Please report back cause I sure they are going to want this software in more than the one room its currently in.
