Forget it, decided to restart iis and it has started working. I feel so stupid sometimes

I've managed to get the setup.aspx page up finally after my previous post, but now i get an error when i'm trying to configure HAP+, I can get so far as to edit my AD information and configure everything down to the tabs section, but after that when I want to click on the cross to remove one of the links I get an "Internal server error" coming up. I have gone to the bottom to click on the save button and that gives me a different error. Have I missed something simple?
-
Thanks nick, clears that up.

Done a bit of searching on google, my error was caused by .net framework not being right. Ran aspnet_regiis.exe -iru and I can now get into the setup.aspx page and start working on this. So far problem solved, still not sure about the api directory though.

I'm trying to setup the V7.1 on my server for testing and when I extract the zip file and watch the installation video I have noticed that I don't have an API folder, but on the youtube video there is one there. Is this folder needed? I haven't used v7 so have only downloaded HAP+ Web v7.1.1909.1840 and extracted this. If I need to download v7 can someone please show me where it is as I can't find it on codeplex website. I'm trying to rule out the possibility of an error and am hoping that this directory will sort it all out. The error message i'm getting is Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. I have seen something like this earlier on in the forum and Nickbro suggested browsing to /api/setup.aspx but I don't have the api directory. I have .net framework 4 installed as this was running an earlier version of HAP+

Thanks for all your help, we've been contacted by the westfield centre who told us not to use the pac file but to put the computer name of the NED in the proxy field for the pupils, after doing this it seems to work fine. They wouldn't admit to the documentation telling me to use the pac file rather than the computer name being wrong though. All working now though.

Now i'm a bit stuck, i've put the wpad.dat file on my webserver and pointed the autoconfig setting to it in gpo, but I can't get to the internet. just to clarify do I just put the webserver address in the setting or do I add wpad.dat at the end. so should it be http://webserver/ or http://webserver/wpad.dat? Also, is there anything else I need to configure on the webserver, I did read something about setting a mime type so I did, but it made no difference.

Thanks guys, i've got it down and removed the entries, now to test it then get it in place.

I can't get it to download, when i type in the pac file address in the address bar it downloads to my PC, but I don't know what it should be called and what file extension to give it. Could you help with that?
-
Sounds like what is going on here, how would I customize the pac file, we currently use the cleo one.

We have finally got devolved filtering set up so we can allow staff to get to youtube, but since allowing it, the NED that we have blocked it on for pupils has started allowing it for the kids. Both the staff and students are on the same network so we have had to allow it in devolved filtering on the pupils group as we are using the curriculum ip range. Has anyone come across this before? Something I did notice when I took it out of the devolved filtering list was that the NED block page was not coming up to block it, it was the LGFL block page instead.
-
@rbance Thanks for that idea, i'm holding off for the time being as the kids are back on Wednesday, but will be looking at implementing it around Christmas time, as it gives me a bit of time for some extra planning.

I have got HAP+ running on a 2008 box, but want to move it over to a 2008 R2 box, does anyone know if this is possible or will I have to install a fresh copy on the 2008 R2 box?

@adamf i've got things attached to the default vlan. What I did have until yesterday was 2 vlans, 1 for curriculum and 1 for admin, there was no routing on them, they were just setup with different ip ranges and different servers and clients. That seemed to work, I think i'll go back to the old setup for now, to make sure everything is working, then look into getting everything planned for the next holiday period to setup the vlans, when I don't have any other jobs to do, at the moment everything else is being put back, which isn't good as i've only got 2 weeks left to figure everything out.
-
I can't ping the default vlan, i get a destination net unreachable error. If I try and ping any other vlan ip it works fine and I get a reply.

10.68.40.1 is the address we used to use for the default gateway, so I think it is the ip of the Internet router. My default vlan has the ip of 10.68.40.2/27 so I'm thinking that may be why I have an issue, if I change the ip range to something else would that work, I'll try it tomorrow morning, I hope so.
-
Yeah i did the ip routing, ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.68.40.1 bit, and my default gateway is set to the router ip address, for instance 10.68.40.65 for my ICT Vlan, or should I be setting it to 10.68.40.1?
-
I'm having an issue at the moment, i can't seem to get any Vlan talking to the default Vlan (1), I have my internet connection plugged in to the default vlan so nobody can access the internet. Is there a way to allow my other 14 Vlans to route to the internet through Vlan 1? Or should I be doing something else to allow internet access? Routing is working between my other Vlans, so PC's in the ICT Vlan can get an IP address from the DHCP server in the servers Vlan, it's just the internet that doesn't work.

I'd say love it, since the new investment in infrastructure and servers things have become a lot more interesting. Looking at new projects for next year already, talk of ipad's being introduced, new head coming into the school as well so all in all everything is moving forward, very quickly as well. I never have a day where i'm not doing anything, when things are running fine i'm always looking at ways we can improve the running of things.

We've got both MAK and KMS keys.

I think i'm having a nightmare, got all the routing set up, except for one ip helper address, I typed in the wrong address, is there a way to change the address without deleting the vlan and recreating it? Nightmare is my 3com edge switches, baseline 2226+ wont allow the HP switch vlan's through them. I suppose they are 7 years old now though. I've got to buy some HP switches for using st the edge now, hope the SBM understands that I had no idea that this was going to happen, I think we need about 5 new 24 port switches. Until the new edge switches are in place and configured, I won't be able to change the DHCP scopes as people keep coming in and moaning if they can't use computers, so much for school holidays = no teachers, i've seen more than I do during a normal term. Just to top things off the SBM is off till the end of this week, then i'm off till the end of next week, then it's make sure everything is working for results week, then somehow build a new website for the school in a week, when exactly am I supposed to fit in the switch configuration, if i'm allowed to buy them?

We do the Btec and the PE dept. just have a bank of laptops to use, they've never asked for anything else.
