Incidentally, I get a 'there's more...you need to install a driver' dialogue box that pops up instead of a blank no?

Caused right chaos here for me today! I still can't get the ruddy printers to map from GP and I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tested the registry key entry (on a workstation I presume) but it's still not working. The reg key has a DWORD of 'restricted', not the actualy one it says on the article so I don't know if they're one and the same? If anyone has any basic instructions they can share I'd be grateful, just tearing what's left of my hair out here!

Yes, offline client availability and excel services are both enabled. I was using IE only because of the AD authentication

I've created a survey using Sharepoint 2013. I've edited the web part that shows the responses and I've come to export to a spreadsheet but the option is not there in the action menu. I went to the web part editor and do not have the options to change the view to allow graphical responses as I have had in other surveys I've done with Sharepoint. In addition, I have no button to select 'show graphical summary' etc which usually appears towards the bottom of the survey or on selected views. Can anyone shed any light as to how to I can get these views back as I need to display results. I've attached some screenshots of what I've got. This is what I want to get! Ah thanks, I did search for a thread, obviously not hard enough!

One of our Governors has asked me to look in to digital signing in solutions on our reception desk. At the moment it's paper and pen but they would like something that staff and visitors could use to sign in, similar to say a doctors? We have access control on our ID cards provided by Easytrace so it would be useful to link in with that. I wondered if anyone used anything and could recommend from that? Thanks

Thanks - this is a scheme we were looking at 2 years ago with some enthusiasm but the school weren't interested as they were focusing of getting a good Ofsted report! We can make it work but we have had a number of changes since that time so I personally think we're too late in getting schools on board. I've tried to get in touch with local schools but they aren't readily giving me information which is what I expect but it's difficult to gauge who wants help and assistance with IT support that way! I don't expect people to share everything so don't worry, I just need to pad out and justify things in my document. I come from a primary support background so I'm well versed in how things work, I just don't know the demand at the moment after being in an Academy for 5 years. When I worked in primaries, we charged about £1,500 per term for a half day visit a week over the course of a year but that was 5-6 years ago so I don't know what the competition is like now.

Hi everyone, Our finance director has asked me to come up with a business plan for extending our ICT support in to local primary schools. I don't think we stand much chance of getting in to any schools personally and we don't really have the manpower/enthusiasm etc (!) to do it but it's part of a bigger plan for providing other services and getting in to other schools. Anyway, I'm after information on a few things and wondered if any of you could help. I could do with information on how much companies charge for support in schools, what they exactly do, what companies are used (LEA, council, business) etc. Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks Ian

Afternoon all, This is probably general wallyness on my part but I have a query in relation to booking resources/rooms via outlook. We have a conference room which staff can book via outlook. Our reception staff want to receive an email whenever the room is booked. All reception staff are part of one security group and they are all publishing editors of that calendar in addition to being delegates of the mailbox. Now, they will receive an email if there is a conflict with bookings, but they also want an email whenever the room is booked, regardless of a conflict or not. This is because they want to know whether refreshments are required etc. and it would save time and hassle checking the calendar. Is there (1) a way to do this, and (2) a way to set up an auto reply to the person who booked the room asking them if any items such as computer, refreshments etc are required?? We have Exchange Server 2010 and are running Office 2010. Probably doing stuff a long winded way but I wondered if it was possible? Thanks Ian

Sorry, I should have said with Solidworks, it's when licences are checked out for users to use at home. We have 60 network licences, ONE single solidworks standalone licence. . . and I'll be blown if I'm paying £200 per licence for more!!!

Afternoon everyone, "HELP!" We've come across a couple of instances recently which have stumped us using two pieces of software - Solidworks 2012 (makes me shudder every time) and some new sewing software called Stitch Sew 2. I wondered if anyone else had any problems with software using dongles. Firstly, with solidworks, we are unable to check licences out per user because the program which checks licences out changes the registry. This works as admin but won't as a user, despite going through our group policy countless times!! Solidworks support were about as much use as a chocolate teapot! We've added admin access bit by bit but it's still not working so essentially we're stuck up a gumtree with this one. And now today, we've had another piece of software which we didn't even know was coming (ruddy art department!) - this is the stitch sew 2 software which does embroidery stuff. Every time the program is run, UAC pops up asking for admin credentials to run the exe. If I type in an admin account then the rest of the program runs as that administration, not as the person who is logged on so as a result, none of their documents or other network drives are available. I've spoken to their tech support who say that they don't offer any tech support. . . . my brain hurts . . . Has anyone had any similar issues either with the aforementioned software titles or other dongled software? Thanks Ian

Thanks for the ideas - reception do not print their cards, we do them in IT support, but as they're linked in with our access control we have to print and then code to the door. We don't have the time or manpower to do them straightaway at present. I like the idea of taking the money off straightaway but don't know whether the superior powers would like that, plus we have students who are on free meals etc. Normal ID cards have name, house and ID photo on, the temporary cards are a stock of bright pink cards with the words 'temporary' on them so we can't let them keep these!
-
I forgot to add, the temporary cards, if issued to a student are set to last for one day if they don't have their card, either lost or forgotten. We print cards within one day so a new one is ready for them the next day but it's down to the student to come to collect - and reluctantly pay! - and also down to class management too, so it's twice as annoying!!!

Hi everyone, I'm just after a few ideas for how we may be able to sort out our ID card system. We use Easytrace Cashless Backoffice which ties in with out Equitrac printing system and our ADT door control system. Every student and member of staff has an ID card and is capable of both 'follow-me' printing and the ability to load cash on their card for use on tills in our canteen. Because our executives want every student to display an ID card, if they forget their ID card they are issued with a temporary card which copies their card details (printing credits, monetary balance etc). This temporary card is either returned when their original is found or a new one is printed for them, for which there is a cost of £1 per card plus additional charges for clips (there is one free card per school year). Now, as you can imagine, students don't want to pay so they are keeping the temporary cards or losing them. We're now at the stage where a temporary card is only issued if students want to add money for meals. Our catering staff (who are not employed by us) are capable of searching for a student on backoffice but they don't as it makes big queues at the tills! We've has this system for almost 3 years and it's getting pretty bloomin' stupid to keep printing these temporary cards. I'm just intrigued as to how everyone else does it with either this or similar systems.

Hi folks, First post here, not sure if I'm in the right area for this so apologies!!! We've been having a discussion in our office after being informed by some teachers that controlled assessments in our Academy are being done in different ways by different teachers! We do at present have system set up and although it works for now, it's a bit long winded and causes us a lot of 'admin' work which we think we could delegate off to the teacher in charge. Now, we've been having a play around with Sharepoint Services to see if we can do something more long term instead of faffing about the way we do presently. I just wondered how other people do it if anyone is willing to share ideas etc. We really don't want to reinvent the wheel and there have got to be some more simpler ways. I'll let you know how we get on! Thanks in advance Ian
