Hi all I'm waiting on a reply back from Capita, but it's taking an age, so I wondered if anyone here knew if there was anywhere to download SIMS Discover, or do you have to ask for a disk? Cheers Matt

We've come back for the new term to a nice present from the edugods Every printer in the school - on both networks - that is networked, is showing as offline. Neither are any responding to a ping. I've rebooted everything, and still no change. All are deployed through print management on server 2008. Can anyone suggest what I can try from here please? I've tried to check who's been in over the holidays - in terms of building work - but I can't get a clear answer at the moment. Thanks in advance!

For cleaning the nasty, I suggest downloading Emsisoft's Emergency Kit to a USB stick and booting in safe mode and scanning/cleaning with that. Or ESET's SysRescue disk should do fine too Emsisoft Free Emergency Kit: portable malware scanner | Free removal of Viruses, Bots, Spyware, Keyloggers and Trojans HTH

Well SLT have told me this morning, we break up tomorrow, and they want it for September start. And I'm term time only. I've initially said they are barking mad, and need to communicate better...

Ahh I feel silly now, great suggestion, thanks sted Educoffee now brewing..

Hi all, After a bit of discussion, SLT are set on deploying SIMs everywhere to run everyone's life. We currently have the Admin and Curriculum type set up, with separate domains on separate VLANs. SIMs server is currently on Admin only. Could anyone point me in the direction of how I would go about doing this please? And an idea of how long it may take, with around 150 computers and a couple of servers? Things I assume need doing: - Recreate Active Directory with all new users - Delete both domains and create a brand new one, individually join each workstation to the new domain .. I'm a bit stuck, not done this before! THanks in advance

Yes, but you're IT, so "it will only take a minute" ....

MSE's detection rate is lacking - well behind all the others in the more reputable tests. It is, however, very light on the system and could be seen as "good enough" - depending on the vital question, what's the system used for? The best in terms of detection capabilities are BitDefender, GDATA and ESET, with Kaspersky not far behind. However, out of those, only ESET could be called light on the system resources. Avast is light, but with middle-of-the-road detection. New features such as the sandbox mode are interesting, but only for people that could figure out how to use them.

I now fully expect disgruntled employees to bodge a patch to change all the little darlings' pictures in SIMs to a meth addict, in one last desperate act to reclaim some control of their lives. Or, for South London, leave them as they are already

An exhaustive list, to be fair: Features and configuration options removed in Windows 8 Consumer Preview

It does seem a long shot, but the newer pacemakers do have some type of wifi / radio connection built in. Possibly, at a stretch, could affect the monitor but not sure about the machine itself. Not an expert in anyway, just guessing

Martin, I'm actually coding a system like this at the moment. Would you like to PM me an email address and I'll let you know when it's ready? Can't promise a release date though I'm afraid

Quicktime MSI / silent install?
MattHarwood replied to MattHarwood's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks K.C. and sted - all works good now! Much appreciated -
Hi all, Anyone know a way to silently install Quicktime please? I'd love to just use something else but some %$^$% dev has set the app to check for quicktime specifically before running. Usual options of /s or -silent etc. are a no go, and Google is confusing me even more Thanks! Matt

Hi all Could anyone recommend a good supplier/reseller for laptop trolleys please? Usual resellers are having trouble finding anything.. Thanks!

Worked perfectly, and as it's Friday, I took precautions and did the proper solution Thanks very much! A slice of EduJubyleeCake is on its way..

It is! But I've hit another snag... Upon launching SIMs it asks where to load the connect.ini from - I choose one on a mapped drive. The window closes, nothing happens. Reopening SIMs presents the same selection window... any ideas? Thanks!

I should of been more patient - adding the workstation as a SIMs workstation in Solus automatically deploys, yehah!
-
Hi all I'm needing to deploy SIMs and FMS for what I've just realised is the first time! Apparently you can deploy a fresh copy through Solus 3? Does anyone know how to do this please? The workstation has the Solus 3 agent. Many thanks Matt
