I believe Cunninghams use Embedded XP? This has a different support cycle to regular XP. Windows Embedded | Product Lifecycles

New Ruckus Firmware WITH Bonjour Gateway
IrritableTech replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Wireless Networks
@Marshall_IT - I don't think you've done anything wrong at all. It's their mistake to make. Recently I received a mailing from one Ruckus reseller who said if your current support contract has ended, you should update it before 1st April 2014. Otherwise - the mailing said - you'll have to back pay to the date it lapsed. Now I'm not sure if this is true or not, but it does put me off being a ruckus customer again when I'm ready to replace my infrastructure - and who I might use to purchase from in the future if it proves to be incorrect. -
New Ruckus Firmware WITH Bonjour Gateway

No Chris, It's not available on the ruckus support site to 'All Users', where as the ZD3000 version is. All the other firmwares on their site are only available to 'premium support' customers. -

Do you think this a mistake? It's not available to customers who have a ZD1100 or ZD5000. It doesn't fit with their support model really, does it? -
:-) but have you tested it? Or are you an EFT school? I forget now where we've got up to!

Looks like they've cracked it. Our DNS server is able to resolve avco.leedslearning.net successfully now. Hopefully everyone else's will be able to soon. Just waiting for Data Management to ring me an confirm.
-
I've asked that Leeds IT Services put a record into the DNS of LeedsLearning.net for AVCO. They're working on it.
-
So one DNS entry has been configured this morning... LLN service Snazy site. I'll ring the number regarding avco...

I used to have a 2.4GHz video sender that caused the same issue - and the picture on the second telly had annoying lines on it too. A purchase I look back at now as a bad one.
-
If this goes on for a while folks like @SchoolsBroadband and @exanetworks could help here. No reason why they couldn't create a record on their DNS servers for the avco server. Then most schools wouldn't know there had been a problem! Hopefully the LCC have it on a priority list to get sorted today.
-
Yeah I realise this, but I'm hoping data or anyone else at Leeds is onto the DNS. We've got ten schools we'd need to change otherwise - not to mention the other couple of hundred schools around Leeds that won't know how or what to change.
-
Same here... I knew it was going too well. Looking into it, someone has changed the name servers for the domain LeedsLearning.Net away from the capita DNS servers today. The new host (cw.net) is based in Germany it seems has no records set at the moment. Once it has propagated, I'll guess they'll need to add the avco record. Looks like a bit of bad planning though.

I think you owe us all a fiver Dave - sorry.

I said almost the exact same thing to my team last week. However I wasn't confident enough to put my money where my mouth was.

7pm. OWA is still accessible at the moment.

Just had my invite email for the Leeds Education Hub. Can't seem to find where to invite/approve others though? Anyone else able to shed any light? [edit] Found a share button. It's right there in the top right!

Have you not got access to the smoothwall @sted? Is it blocked at that point, or the PSN edge firewall?
-
So today is the day... Just downloaded a Debian ISO over our LLN connection - I've never seen such speed through their proxies!

Further info I have found... https://wamdcli.webitrent.com/wamdcli_webrecruitment/wrd/run/ETREC107GF.open?VACANCY_ID%3d5nfM492322%1BUSESSION=CEB348B6B8A411E3B722982F42B94360&WVID=1R0q139950&LANG=USA The school website is broken (first task for successful candidate?) so this is the local council advert. [edit] That link doesn't work. Try going to www.wakefield.gov.uk: Jobs and Careers and click search for jobs - key word - "ICT"

It would be good to have you along Andrew.

Often the quickest and easiest method. Just to add to @AngryTechnician's suggestion of The Professionals Online Safety Helpline (Helpline - Safer Internet Centre). It really is a fantastic service. They have connections to most of the big social networks and some great advice. I do wish more schools knew of them.
-
Do the POS not use embedded XP? That's supported until 2017 I think.
-
I know Schools ICT Services are looking to host something after Easter for customers and non customers. Not to say your idea isn't a good one though... Anyone central able to host? :-)
-
Well done! At a meeting a couple of weeks ago I was talking to another NM who has it working (I've not had the files or instructions yet), but he said that nobody within the council departments knows how to use it, so nothing ever comes through it. Not the case for you then?
-
ICT4Leeds is the new rebranded LLN. In reality it's the councils ICT department. I think it's been designed in conjunction with the YHGfL, and their new commercial arm ICT4Collaboration (but happy to be corrected on this). It is based on the Yorkshire and Humber Public Services Network contract. Connections are supplied by Virgin business, filter/firewall is smoothwall and Office365 for communication. ICT4Leeds retained around 60 of their previous 260 schools across the city. Most who wanted to keep their current VoIP telephone infrastructure. The remaining 200 schools have pretty much ended up with two local commercial companies.
