@Jobos you can turn that off via GPO User Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Printers Turn off Windows default printer management > Enabled

The ones I fixed up in my October post are still going but funny enough my colleague mentioned that the area around the screen where the cable runs through looks suspect. Visiting the Lenovo stand at BETT will be amusing that's for sure...

I'm using LTSB for a select few machines on our network (digital signage players) but on some older hardware (Intel DH41WV board, yes I know it's ancient!) my MDT Task Sequence fails and the machine locks up. Just tried the same bit of hardware on 1709 and it deployed fine. OK I can export the drivers using PowerShell but is it expected that LTSB would have less drivers in it for older hardware as well as newer?

Just tried it and seems to work fine doing this... cd "%userprofile%\Onedrive - Name of your Organisation" attrib +U -P /s Works instantly

I wonder if scripting something with the attrib command mentioned here may do the trick? @Warwick_Tech something must be wrong with your client, just tried it this morning to check as I couldn't believe the upload would need a manual sync. wait for client to show Version 2017 (Build 17.3.7076.1026) sign in all existing files show as in cloud and download as you use them new uploads dragged into OneDrive upload as soon as they're brought in, pretty quick here for a 300MB installer I put in files are visibile in browser version on another machine instantly Waiting for the 2017 client is important otherwise you'll get the old sync experience and it's the single biggest issue deploying Files on Demand right now. Still working on a solution for that as DISM didn't allow me to replace the installer.

Thing is if the old client deploys and someone launches it you could end up with a cache you don't want before Files on Demand kicks in. Also reading that updater process seems odd when WSUS exists.

That's the method I've been trying via a script I found elsewhere. Errored out in MDT so need to look at it more closely. Guess I could replace it using DISM but that ruins my plans to have a completely clean MS WIM as the base file.

It's a weird / slow install process for the client, initially it's not there, then it appears... disappears, upgrades then appears again and sometimes doesn't work until after a reboot. What exact version is installed if you right click Settings on the system tray? Also have you got any GPOs that may be disabling it?

Crazy isn't it though, with all the patches and updates MS still couldn't make one of their own browsers work with their own product better than their biggest rival. Also it's not just devices inside the network we're talking about, it's when staff go home and use whatever browser opens first...

Education and Enterprise are pretty identical, indeed when you import the WIM it used to identify as Enterpise

x64 every time, all of ours have been for some time now

For production use I'd agree, I only use it because we have some Compute Sticks for digital signage that only have x86 UEFI firmware so can't take the x64 OS

@Blue_Cookeh had any luck with the OneDrive client and updating it on the image?

A random observation from today, I built a machine with LTSB (for streaming media so very little config change required which suits this build) x64 install ~12GB x86 install ~8GB Did the x86 installation by accident due to building with the wrong ISO but was blown away by how small it was. Still using Education for the production builds (1709 being tested atm) but digital signage machines etc. using LTSB.

Feels quick on our machines with SSD drives. Also tweaked some policies so it skips the welcome animation and switches to desktop quicker. Users have reported that the 1703 machines we rolled out felt faster to boot and login than W7.

Except we use that for our proxy rules with wpad files so needs to be on. Ironically that had to be turned on as Outlook and some other apps wouldn't play nicely with manual proxy settings. That said it didn't feel that much better even on a machine with direct connection. Also the way it copies to local drive temp folder and then uploads after wasn't convincing either.

Still using WebDAV which is nasty on larger files, uploads particularly are incredibly slow

Anyone got the new OneDrive client working with Files on Demand without having to manually update it? Seems like I have to reboot after first login, manually update then reboot again for it to upgrade to the 2017 version correctly.
