Hi Andrew, Your 500GB limit is not taken up by any of our content libraries or anything downloaded from Exchange, it should only be taken up by unique content added by yourselves. If you have used all 500GB then good going! Let me know if this is the case and we can arrange to extend it, we certainly don't want to restrict your usage of ClickView. Hi GoodheadDC, USB captures cards are not officially supported, the model we recommend is a PCI card from Hauppauge the HVR1700. If you do need to go down the route of a USB card then there are Hauppauge ones I've known to work, but as support probably stated we don't officially support them. That's not to say we won't attempt to get it working! Hope that helps. Danny

Yes it will happily run on a virtual server, a number of schools are set up with a virtual server and it's fully supported.

Hi Edu-IT, Our minimum and recommended specs for all parts of our system are available on our website here: ClickView - the digital video solution for schools I've seen machines with lower specs than we've listed here happily running ClickView Library Server, but obviously should there be any sort of performance issue and the spec didn't at least meet our minimum recommended we'd firstly suggest that the server is brought up to standard. But we're happy for users to run ClickView Library Server on any Windows machine as long as they understand the drawbacks should it not meet our minimum spec. Danny

I guess the move towards HTML5 and applications becoming browser based might be why the look of ClickView Player might not be updated. I believe that's the direction that ClickView will be moving in, so to spend any time on freshening the look could be futile. I'm not aware of any plans for it anyway. This isn't anything official but my prediction (not just for ClickView) is that an installed application will be a thing of the past in a few years, maybe even sooner. Completely agree though on Player, it could do with updating. But the reasons I've stated above are probably why it won't happen.

Do you mean the ClickView Online web interface compared to the videos being played on the iPhone / iPad app? Feel free to drop me an email with any comments and I'll make sure they are passed on to the necessary people.

Hi all, Over the coming months ClickView will be adding further content libraries to our offering. We currently offer a VEA Library (which has termly updates), Discovery Education and BBC Active. National Geographic and Getty are both currently putting together something that will soon be available with ClickView, we'll hopefully be in a position to announce these soon. We'll also be able to provide videos on an individual basis through Media Store - an iTunes type interface which staff members can request content through and purchase directly from the video content distributors. This is already available in Australia and will be coming to the UK version of the software soon. As well as this, as has already been mentioned there are over 7000 videos that can be downloaded from ClickView Exchange - all that's required to access these is a subscription to the ClickView software and an ERA+ licence. Hi Hacksawbob, I would hope so too and am very confident this is the case, but it all started before my time at ClickView so couldn't comment on what happened when it was first introduced. Hi Hacksawbob, The only way I'll be able to answer your question regarding the specific clauses is by speaking to ERA, which I'm happy to do if you think this will be useful? They are very helpful, if you're worried that your use of Exchange is flouting the law I'm sure they will be happy to put your mind at ease. I've always had informative and helpful answers from them on 020 7837 3222. We speak to ERA on a regular basis, they are fully aware of ClickView Exchange and how it operates and as Andrew_C has mentioned, his school was inspected by ERA and they saw no issue. Hi Hacksawbob, Our Exchange server is regulated by ERA, the sharing between institutions is covered by an ERA+ licence. I can assure you that ClickView Exchange does not break any law nor does it come close to doing so. This has been the case since the Exchange was started. I'm sure ERA would be happy to give a more detailed explanation than I have and will chase this up if anyone thinks it would be useful? Danny

Hi Pete, I've had this thread brought to my attention via Twitter, hope you don't mind me barging in! After some tough interrogation I'm afraid we haven't found the culprit, but if they're out there I can assure you I'll find them. But joking aside, I've not heard anyone within ClickView hand out advice such as you've suggested and wouldn't ever recommend adding a copyrighted DVD to your library. Just to clear things up, you should not add a copyrighted / commercial DVD to ClickView. This is not to say it's not technically possible, but if you want to remain on the right side of the law then the DVD should not be added. Your quote is true that most films probably end up getting aired at some point, but in that case the free to air recording should be added to the library, not your DVD in anticipation of it being aired! Saying all this, we are not the copyright police and are not responsible for what is in your library, therefore it is completely your responsibility should such content find its way onto your ClickView Library Server.
