Hi Guys, I was not sure where to put this post so here it is in the general chat. We are a small secondary school with approx 650 pupils on roll. I am NM and have been in post just a year. Prior to my starting we signed up for a free trial of Moodle hosted off site. This has been a disaster and has never taken off. We have come to the point where they are now asking for money. I thought we could bring Moodle in and host ourselves (cheap have no money). However we have a new Director of E learning starting in September and she is not keen on Moodle and she brings experience of a package called Studywiz. Again I was thinking of hosting in house and the costs for the first year will be approx £6000 with hardware and setup costs and then £2.75 per user after that. Has anyone had any experience of Studywiz? I have looked at other very expensive VLE's and Sharepoint (also expensive and time intensive to setup). Has anyone got any suggestions? Staff here are slow to embrace technology as was demonstrated when we installed our mail server. We need something quick and easy for staff to use. I would appreciate your comments. Sorry for the lengthy post.

Have to say thanks to SYSMAN MK for fantastic package. Can anyone tell me how I can add the school logos to the foot of the home page. I was wondering if you would do this using the banner module?

Thanks. I have made a start now using the Edugeek Joomla package using the eg_default template and JSN slideshow. Will I be able to upgrade to 1.5 upload the templates and all will still work?

Please!!! Where can I get the Joomla 1.5 compliant template?

Hi Andy, You said it took you a while to get them working together can you give more info. I definately had problems last time a tried this as both GP and Ranger seemed to be fighting to apply policies. Would you be willing to have a chat with me if I gave you a ring?

Hi Andy, Can you elaborate please. What exactly did you do? When I set up group policy to redirect the my documents folder there was no option in Ranger to tell it not to do this and there were conflicts. In the end I had to edit a Ranger config file. I do not want to keep making changes to config files so how did you achieve harmony between the two? Thanks

Hi All, We currently have Ranger 5 and have not renewed our support contarct(so cannot ask them the question) as we intend to use group policies to lock down the workstations. Is it possible to to keep Ranger on so as to utilise all the other things it does well but leave all the policies alone. I have applied some group policies but Ranger does not play nice. Is Ranger all or nothing or is their some way I can configure it so all folder re-direction, desktop policies, user policies etc are handled by Server 2003. I appreciate any advice you can give.

Have a look at Kyocera, they will recommend the model that best fits and then the only things that need to be replaced is the toner cartridges. They are fitted with ceramic drums that prolong the longevity of the printer.

Add the laptops to their own OU and use loop back processing. This will strip away any GPO's being applied. You can then apply any specific GPO's to the OU containing the Teachers laptops.

Check out the link below. Just used this program and it's bloody brilliant. Creates bulk users and also resets folder permissions. Took a little while to figure out but seems to work a treat. I cannot take credit for discovering this, found the link here on Edugeek.

Logmein is all accessed through your browser. An applet is installed on the client machine so firewalls/routers/nat are not a problem.

logmein is a fab piece of free software that allows control of remote computers: http://www.logmein.com

Group those machines in to their own OU within EPO go to policies and uncheck inherit and then modify the policies and tasks as you see fit. Sorry got stacks on so I haven't the time to go into detail. Hope this post makes sense if you need more help I can add more detail later.

Hi all, first post and wasn't sure which forum to use. I have a 32 bit Server so Exchange 2007 is not an option. My question is do I need Exchange 2003 standard or enterprise. I ask because of diferences in licensing costs. We have around 650 pupils on roll plus staff. Is the 75GB limit for the information store in the standard edition sufficient in the real world? I appreciate any advice you can give me.
