We have now found our MFP's have no problems it is now just the Ricoh desktops that have an issue. The work around which works is to install the printer locally and then it is held for all users. The issue I'm having is getting it to do the same routine but via a batch command as vbs is not working (could well be blocked) I've tried rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /if /b "NORTH-US-SRTEST-TEST24-BOGUS" /f %windir%\inf\ntprint.inf /r "IP_157.57.50.98" /m "HP Laserjet 4000 Series PCL" /Z (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/189105/how-to-add-printers-with-no-user-interaction-in-windows) but it says printer error(0x00000704 the specified port is unknown). Any other ideas for a logon script to install a network printer locally on Windows 10 ?

[1803, Spring Update] Cortana, applocker and that start menu
grahamd22 replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Windows 10
So if we work on the basis of not locking Cortana through Applocker what is best practice to lockdown the computer missuse? Is there any simple way of doing this that you have found which we might be able to trial instead? -

Effectively the same but there is also an annoying shortcut of Left Shift + Left Alt + Print Screen: High Contrast Mode we found out the otherday so added: Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > File System %SystemRoot%\System32\EaseOfAccessDialog.exe Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects Disabled

An answer from Sleuth: If your school has decided not to renew their Sleuth licence there are 2 options to retain information from Sleuth: 1. Export data before your licence expires This can be done by using the Search/Report facility to run reports of your choosing and printing or saving the results (as a PDF or CSV file) as described in the online manual. Please note that we are not authorised to keep your data so for security reasons all your Sleuth data will be deleted one month after licence expiry. 2. Purchase an archive licence for continued access to Sleuth reports A 1-user Sleuth archive licence provides full online access to search and report on all the collected behaviour data in Sleuth. Only one user can be logged in at a time. No new events can be entered, it is only an archive of behaviour data for analysis and reporting. Contact us for pricing.

Did you ever manage to do this? We have already transitioned to the online version so may not apply.

The biggest change that seems to have fixed things is a reimage with just the latest cumulative update and that is with Windows 10 Anniversary 1607 and the gpo's inplace as we have other suites we didn't get around to do doing and they are still not picking up the printers.

I found the details for one of the engineers at Microsoft on this forum who helped us out massively when we transitioned to 365 with exchange onsite. Drop him an email (if he still works in that department as this was back in 2015): Dan Florea Support Escalation Engineer EMEA O365 Exchange Escalations Office: +40 (21) 3028441 [email protected] Working hours: 9 - 18 GMT+2 (EET)

We have decided to change it so that instead of daily deletion of user profiles we would extend this to 7 days. It will leave profiles of common users on the PC and so far this is one of the first days where I have recieved positive comments from teachers that on the whole printers were there first time, we'll see how this goes and hope the SSD's have space ..! Policy Setting Comment Delete cached copies of roaming profiles Enabled Delete user profiles older than a specified number of days on system restart Enabled Delete user profiles older than (days) 7

Just tried and unfortunately it didn't make much if any difference.

Afraid to say it has made no difference here. We thought a full re-image with 1607 and latest cumulative updates would help but alas no :-(

management are furious with this issue and I can only sympathise as I would not want a class of children faced with being unable to print but the only thing that we found successful on a handful of machines is a reimage but with the latest cumulative update so we will be doing IT suites over half-term. It is the same for everyone that wants to keep the SSD's free from logon data that everyother logon the printers are there.

updated mine to 1709 (without wanting to) find that Applocker had blocked Edge. This was a legacy setting we had applied but a gpupdate /force did nothing and even checking my local gpedit there is no indication Applocker is doing anything. I tried a reset but this option removed Edge completely. I have now rolled back to 1607 and everything including remote desktop tools have come back.
