  1. IT Data Engineer – with lead responsibility for the School’s Management Information System You will be responsible for providing support for a wide range of IT systems and you will be the lead support for the School’s Management Information System (iSAMS). You will spend your time working with others to make sure staff can use iSAMS effectively e.g. helping colleagues to analyse their academic data, and working to improve our reports, queries and assessment spreadsheets. Training will be provided if you do not possess all the skills and knowledge required. https://www.ipswich.school/contact-us/vacancies/it-data-engineer/

  3. Custom directories sound like what you have done as I am not aware of any other way of doing it. Even doing that wouldn't work for us because the pupils know some of the group email addresses so they'd still be able to email them, just not look them up in the directory. I spoke to a company who provide Gsuite support and the routing rule was going to be their suggestion. Routing rules are pretty good if you have a naming convention
  4. Did you do that with custom directories?
  5. We have a large Mobotix deployment for CCTV so these we just bought to see how well they would work should we want to use them for mobile use for short periods of time. They also aren't being used in areas where children are
  6. We purchased a couple of Blink Cameras to trial them for mobile use (we use Mobotix for all fixed cameras). We can't get it to work through our Palo Alto 3220 because I assume we need to allow something inbound on the firewall but have no idea what to allow. Blink's forums aren't very helpful either. They work fine on our BT hub which we use for testing but as soon as they are on the corporate network, nothing! Long shot but has anyone else got a Blink camera working through their firewall?
  7. We have done this but I created the Team Drives for each department and added the relevant members. Almost everything has been migrated across from our file server. A lot of people still use the File Stream but more and more are using the browser especially those that have a Chromebook
  8. Thanks for everyone's help. I have setup a routing rule applied only to the Pupil OU which rejects messages when the expression is matched.
  9. only apply the routing rule to the student OU
  10. Thanks. A routing policy would work fairly similarly to how I have content compliance currently setup. Just trying to figure out the expression I need because regex is so bloody complicated! Most of our groups begin within "all" for example, "allyear8" so I need something like all*@!!
  11. Has anyone got any suggestions for blocking pupils from emailing groups? I know you can setup message restrictions but this would involve maintaining a list of approved people pupils can send to. Group posting permissions aren't helpful either. The only thing I can think of is to use content compliance in the admin console and setup expressions so that the Pupil OU has a rule applied which says that any emails going to a particular address are blocked. Thanks Simon
  12. The problem was due to someone in the tech team having the Mac version of the Lanschool tech console. As soon as they stopped running their version of the tech console the problem was 'fixed'
  13. I have a cover request calendar in Sharepoint in Office 365 then a workflow which emails the cover supervisor. When someone marks their request as an all-day event there seems to have been an update which has changed the times of these events. E.g. If I add an event for today as an all-day event, the start time is 30/04/2018 01:00:00 and the end time is 01/05/2018 00:59:00. It used to be that the end time was same date then a time of 23:59:59 Is there a way to change this?
  14. Support said there was an option when installing for allowing Edge. Tried this and the silent command but it still blocks it
  15. We only have 4 teacher machines on at the moment, channels 15, 4, 23 and 31
  16. Thanks for your response. This option is unticked on the teacher's machine and the problem exists on all students on all channels so we don't know where the box is ticked! We will investigate
  17. 8.0.0.42 and 8.0.0.79
  18. We have a problem with any machine running Lanschool student. If you launch Edge and try browsing, it then closes with a message saying "Lanschool 0.0.0.0 has closed this application due to private browsing" (something like that anyway). Edge isn't being blocked by any of the teacher machines so it's really weird and occurs on machines on different channels. Anyone else with similar issues or ideas on how to fix it?
  19. We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our ICT department. Candidates should have experience in administering Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Switches (preferably Dell), Wireless systems (preferably Ruckus) and a backup solution (preferably DPM). Full details - here
  20. OK so the AQA disc in question that Sagima mentioned contains music extracts and AQA do not allow this disc to be placed on an intranet or VLE at all. It clearly states that due to the copyright of the musical extracts we aren't allowed to make copies. AQA confirmed this on the telephone when I queried this with them too. So while there's lots of debating as to whether something is legal or not legal, we'll refuse to make copies of the disc because as an organisation we don't feel comfortable doing something that goes against the licencing of the company in question.
  21. AQA do not allow copies. I did call them
  22. A teacher told me because his last school copied discs for him without raising it as an issue then I should....
  23. Thanks for that. I did come across the Kemp Edge Security Pack when I was searching online but was put off by having to buy a complete product when all I wanted was a small feature of one of their products! I will see what quote they come back with!
  24. You would think it would be easy to remember the username but we are talking about people who think their computer isn't working when in actual fact the monitor is switched off. I have WAP and ADFS 3 all set up and working but not properly with Sharepoint....
  25. When I first read about the web application proxy I thought it would be a great way to do it but it has proved much more difficult than expected. With TMG it was a case of publishing sharepoint with no sharepoint configuration necessary. With the WAP it requires quite a bit of configuration and I can't get people to login with their standard username either. They have to login with username@domain which for teachers will be too much hassle.
