here here mate - Worst natural disaster in australias history. The best part of this whole mess is the amount of aid the rest of aus is providing. I heard today that it was something like ~30 Million in telethons and stuff. Theres even more to come aswell i think on tele. It trully is sickening though - the amount of human life lost (specially in regards to our other tragedies IE waterfall train disaster, port arthur, even our diggers in combat). And how could someone start these fires on purpose? I say dont even punish them - just find them and drop them off at the tent city for the refugees and turn a blind eye.

Hi Gang, Ive got this problem, which ive always had to a degree, where roaming prof users will login and sometimes then be left at a post-login/pre-explorer starting limbo. The problem is now it is happening to almost everyone and almost all the time, this sudden increase happened overnight practically. Their only recourse is to CTRL + ALT + DEL and logoff and try again, which doesnt always work. But eventually will. I am trying to do 2 things: 1) see if anyone can help? (the profile srv is a 2003 r2 super-specced box, client are XP sp3 and some SP2) 2) see if anyone can help me find the registry edits needed to enalbe Profile loading logging. I simply cannot find this anywhere after looking for about an hour. Can anyone shed some light? OR have the same problem? My first attempt to hack a fix was to check if explorer.exe exists if not start it in the login script, but this doesnt work as this issue is aparent before logon scripts are run. Please help if you can.

i use parent of adito in ssl explorer - great product too bad what happened to it. Kmount - how is adito in comparison? I hear it is on par with featuress but lacks some nice-ities like ipackage installer and the like?

Hi gang, Ive a question regarding what type of wireless authentication i should be using for a purple network of purely non-school owned laptops/devices. These are primarily staff laptops, but not bought by or maintained by the school and therefore we've created a "if you want to use YOUR laptop with OUR internet (for teaching purposes) and access our external services" network so to speak. I am trying to decide what is "better" across security and ease of setup. We can use for example a radius server for authentication which provides excellent factors of discrimination (IE AD user groups access, TOD), or simply use WPA and a passphrase. I know the radius route is more robust and feature rich, however it does involve alot of steps on the client end which i fear/know will confuse and deter staff from using the network. Like i said, they are not school owned or maintained so things like config via GPO are out of the question. On the other hand the WPA/Psk is easy(er) to get online. Simple as that. Can anyone comment as to which way you suggest i go with this? Or know of another type of rollout configs i am not sure about? Possible scripting? Thanks for the 2 cents guys and gals. Cheers

What do you do (any one with this type of bandwidth) with this type of connectivity?? Or is it more of an celiing limit that you'll never hit type deal?

we use ssl explorer enterprise ... but community would suffice for free-ness. I dont think the community version is been maintained now though ...

Yep - concur. Simple and effective and even better you can disable buttons and such by editing an XML file.

whats "wrong" with ubuntu? being a modest linux user im noticing a distaste for ubuntu compared to ...debian, slackware, gentoo? Totally off topic so i apologise.

Ive doen this for other reasons (and suprised to hear that the papercut agent dies - its run imaculatley for me over many years). autoIT is the way to go here - it has a function named processExist() -- thats half the script right there!! my scripts are literally 5 || 6 lines long so its a simple task.

Just my 2 cents AUD ... But obviously the ads are there for a reason. No one at eduGeek would want to have ads for no other reason the offsetting the costs of running (i trust) the site and from what i can tell about the origins/original players of the site i doubt that the runners/owners are keeping all the massive amounts of cash and driving merc's or in your case .. jaguars. Either way - what ever keeps me away from a subscription fee more power to it!! By they way - i fully agree with the guy that said the forums are nothing with out the members.

Hi Guys, Very simply (and you might notice i have a wireless implementation thread in the networks section) im thinking how hard would it be to setup a "warehouse style" handhelp computing where staff members (on supervision duty for example) could call up studentDB, intranet etc etc. Now all this is can be achieved with a WLAN/Laptop combination but i think handheld like the Motorola Symbol is more attractive as far as usage? In addition the handhelds i so far have looked at can also include Push to Talk phone services - a mobile combintation which is not to shabby. Anyone got a system like this working? Really more curiosity then anything else. Please comment as you wish. Cheers, Amfony
