In RMMC Select Users Section Users Servers Select the server Students Then under students right click and create new folder say called year 10 Then browse the server where current users are lets say in students folder Select your year 10 students right click them click on move Then from next window move the users to year 10 folder Once you done that they will get moved in h:\rmusers folder into the correct folder. Alt you can drag students from students folder into your year 10 folder. Russ

Not sure what you are asking? Are you saying if looking in the RMMC you have all your users under one area. Then all you need to do in RMMC is create folder structure and then right click users you want to move and select move (you can do this in bulk if want) and move them to your year 10 folder for example. Yes there are some negative views but plenty of positive views. Capita will always have negative view from some people just as RM and Microsoft do. That is an issue that companies that have a major share in a market area have to deal with to be honest they do not care that's life. As for SupportNet and peoples views on it well of course official forum will be less critical than an independent forum . The same as RM Communities is more positive to RM as it is their official community. This is very much case with Capita due to some heavy handed techniques used in past. Then again it maybe said certain people on support net have a negative view of EduGeek.net on SupportNet There is place for EduGeek.net and SupportNet people will go for support to where they feel is best place to go it is not one or the other. We all live together in harmony To be honest there is no one good MIS system they all have their faults Capita have some positives and Sims.net lot better than old stuff the old stuff wasn't bad it just grew to quick for them to keep up and in rush to get stuff out made some bad choices and brought number of bugs in. Capita are well aware of the issues they have and they seem to be working on it. As for people not knowing how to use it I agree but 99.9% of schools do not. In fact I would say large % of LSU do not have good grasp of best practice of the usage of Sims.net.

As for data security the missing bit at moment (few things coming which sort of deal with it) is encryption of cloud computing documents. Also I see a big intake of white label cloud computer services hosted on your own data centre which you have control over etc but can offer same flexibility as google docs etc. Russ

To be honest that is way things have been going for a number of years the arguments about internet connection is valid at moment but in near future think lot of that will be solved. Key to cloud computing is use of offline mechnisims like Gmail,Google Calendar and Zoho where when offline you can still continue but in a lmited fashion. Myself most of my stuff in cloud really and only time I don't is when I travel for example by train in which case I enable offline modes or download to my laptop what I need. Most of my stuff is one of few places Evernote (which has a very good offline client), Google Docs, Twitter is all done via Seesmic Web etc etc I am thinking about having eyeos hosted somewhere and make in effect my whole os in the cloud? As for education software having to rewritten that will happen overtime specially with things being released for Portals & VLEs etc. But all that said there is place for both and quote at end of the article sums it up for me.
