We officially recommend a Facility backup is taken manually every night. In theory, a SQL backup to a bk file is enough to save your bacon in an emergency. If you need further advice please contact support who will be able to help with this. If you need help specifically with how to set up the backup within SQL, i believe there is a document already produced. If not, perhaps i should produce one? That makes sense, as the license keys for Facility admin are stored in the database itself (but are not restricted to a single database). Once you have restored your data, if you want it for future reference you can find it in options | Advanced | License key

Something to bare in mind is that CMIS and ePortal can be quite heavy on disk usage. Many people stick another processor in or double their RAM but forget about the old SCSI 160 Non RAID disks they have. SCSI 320 is a good start. Do the best you can with RAID, the more disks and partitions you can have for splitting the OS, Data files and Page files, the better.

Definately do talk to the fire brigade, it was our fire chief that decided we should use my suggested method; legally i believe you have to have paper copies, it accessing those paper copies endangours another individual they should be left. Do talk to the fire brigade though then atleast you know you're safe.

These keys can be changed, in my opinion - but i believe the optimum setting is about 1/3 of your total memory.

The trick is to have classes gather in the classes they were in at the time not the form groups - the teacher should be last out of the classroom anyway as they have responsibility. The arrangement we had was to do a headcount as kids left the classroom and count them again when they met. That way its an up to date count. Although it's not perfect you dont need to know which kid is missing; the others will tell you.

I posted this reply in the other place aswell - try unticking normalisation validation on your isa box, if you have one.

If you are running an ISA box but only for externally make sure you untick normalisation validation.
