This is something I have toyed with the idea of. For support requests etc. Can I ask, if you have this sort of solution, do staff use it as an alternative to emailing ? do you use it for IT support requests only? I am mainly interested in the IM element of this solution as apposed to the telephony side.

I had this part working on our Lightspeed box this week but struggling to find a way to deploy the proxy settings to IE11. Not even begun to experiment on devices. forcesafesearch for byod device sounds most viable for me

Just set this up and preliminary testing would seem that this does indeed work Server 2008 R2 creating a DNAME file. Had to flushdns on the client PC

Hi Does anyone know of a solution to charge spare laptop batteries? We have a need to have spare charged batteries available for laptops that might be on all day or at least until lunchtime without a charge or a power outlet. Cheers

test the connection to youtube by unticking the "Block Google and YouTube HTTPS (fail-safe)" is youtube works then you might have the same issue we are having which is that http seems to be turned off and you have to go to https. My other issue which i was not aware of is that LS cannot enforce safety mode so its wide open. We have managed via support today to get youtube edu working but only because we had a edu code already. Staff ares still using youtube without the "Block Google and YouTube HTTPS (fail-safe)" ticked.

Is there a way using this method to set it so any https traffic is pushed through the proxy address and all else is left alone? Forgive me if this has been answered, it has been a long day

it used to be able to enforce safe search via the policy - Force safe search (Google, YouTube and Bing) but spoke to support today as i saw that this wasnt working and they said it doesnt work anyway and they are waiting on a response from youtube. Anyone else with LS have this issue?

Lightspeed cannot enforce Youtube safe search? We are having issues with youtube and having to push youtube through the lightspeed proxy but while I was investigating that I was told that Youtube safe search hasnt worked for ages and they are waiting on a fix. What do other schools do if this is the case?

Anyone else on lightspeed finding access to youtube timing out? http or https Students cannot get to youtube unless we disable the https safe search fail-safe. which is not recommended. I am setting up a pac file now to redirect youtube traffic via the lightspeed web proxy. Anyone else having this issue?

Came to my attention this morning after a rumour of students access to sites they shouldnt any way its this: Prism Multi-Device Web Proxy [bETA] proxy bypass "http://prism.mobiforge.com/" which then redirect to another domain e.g Reviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor "http://chromedesktop.0826.doihaveamobilestrategy.com:8000/http://tripadvisor.com" (i tested this as a student with a less savoury site, it worked) This was unclassified in our Lightspeed box, i have blocked both so seems to have worked.

I have just been asked how might we set up an SMS - email helpline that allows students to ask for help via SMS rather that calling a number if they dont want to talk. Email is easy but they might not have an email account. My initial thoughts are of an email account that picks up SMS messages and puts them in an inbox that a member of staff monitors? Anyone already doing this or software out there.

Are there more upto date alternatives to eJay 2005? out there free or paid. Our PA dept still use this but nearing 10years old I thought there might have been something "new" out there

Do these projectors support existing smartboard notebook documents? and I presume all the functionality that comes with the smartboard software? Was about to purchase some M685 boards with Ultra Short throw projectors but these and the TK Team boards are coming back alot cheaper. Anyone had any complaints from teachers moving across from traditional smartboard IWB?

I have done the same here but could not get Sky Sports to autoplay. To get some sport content What I have done is embed some playlists from espnUK and BTsport from Youtube which have upto date content and queued them up. I have used @jamiet147 code to help embed this and position it. Set to autoplay and hide controls

I spoke to someone, it seems they have categorized google.co.uk/url as security. They are working on it. We are justing using good old bing.com as a workaround

That is an option. Prices I'd had back so far had been a little higher but suppose for neatness they would be the obvious option.

We are getting some shiny new Smartboards for the entire Maths department, replacing everything AV related in the room and so just costing a few things up. Has anyone put in a soundbar instead of the traditional speaker/subwoofer setup? Just thought it would look a lot neater and give just as good performance.
