Hello everyone; While running a robocopy by hand to make sure that our new file server is up to date i managed to run it but with the options preced by \ instead of / which has lead to me having the following problem i now have two folders in the root of my file system called "staff" one of which actualy contains all their data and one which contains the folders copyall, E and Z one below the other. Now if we look at the folders via the command line it turns out ther one is called "Staff" and the other is called "staff " however when you list the folders they both say they have the staff data in them. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of these folders which refuse to delete. Thanks .adam

Hello Fokes; We have a ISA firewall server through which we place all of our student traffic which is then directed to the LEA. The staff have there proxy set up directly to the LEA. We want to have all the staff also running through ISA but with their trafic going to a different port on the upstream server to that of the kids. Has anyone else done this? Any advice would be very welcome. Many thanks .Adam

I'm trying to set up some HP printers however each time I finish the add printer wizard i get the following error: Unable to install Printer. The Print Processor does not exist. This is only occurs for some HP printers in this case LaserJets 1320 and 4200 but does not effect 2550. MS has a fix for servers in a cluster which have this problem, since im not in a cluster this doesn't apply but i've applied for the patch anyway. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? Thanks .Adam

Thanks everyone robocopy is working no problems. Now I just have to deal with some of the office staff who have the ability to set their own permisions and they have done it on individual files.......... FFS

I will try out altecsole vmware solution and report back, I need R2 to use the file replication services, we are move all the student user areas to a new server but I cant copy them, some have directory paths over 256 chars long. Tried a program called xxcopy which is ment to overcome this problem but it failes half way through and wont restart say at 'h' onwards, it re-copys everything stoping at the same point. I'm trying to copy all our student user areas over to a new server. I have tried; - Drag 'n' Drop -Just wont do it - Xcopy - Runs out of memory due to directory paths longer than 256 chars - XXCopy - Just stops about half way through I'm Currently tring to zip groups of folders for copying. Does anyone have any better solutions Many Thanks .Adam

Well the IT dept. here has been through 3 hands in the last 3-4 years so this summers todo list basicly consists of making sure that we know where everything is and whats it called. I mean what is the point in a PC called 'adam' or 'Attendance' so thats about 150 re-names to do. All our servers need patching or moving to 2003 since some are still on 2K + the two new rooms which need coms cupboards and patching oh yes and they want Exchange set up..........

Hi Fokes Im trying to give some of my servers a needed upgrade to R2. According to MS you just stick disk two in the drive and go, which is all very well but everytime I do this the server claimes that there is a setup running which requieres a re-start, so i restart the machine and try again..... same problem. Has anyone ever had this before? I cant find anything useful through google. Thanks .Adam
