You might be struggling to find an all-in-one to do what you want. I've got a Humax Freesat recorder for live TV and recording stuff. I find the Freesat picture better than Freeview on the same TV set. I've also got a WD TV Live which plays just about anything (including DNLA). It has a Netflix app and the picture quality is on Netflix is exceptionally good - most films and TV stream in 1080 - better than my DVD player.

Well, I finished it. I enjoyed it so much I wish I could forget it and start all over again. What a web of a plot. And the characters were absolutely perfect; it was pure alchemy (Saul and Gus were tremendous). However, I found Skyler to be quite an unlikeable and irritating character. Extraordinary television, this is set to be a classic. Someone said it was like a 64 hour movie that gripped you with every scene. The cinematography was spectacular, I think it was shot on 35mm film instead of video. Apparently, tourism in Albuquerque has gone bananas.

Well, I'm grumbling. I've added these to the 'cheap-and-not-very-good' drawer chock full of gloves which are cheap and not very good. When will I learn.

I settled on Ubuntu 12.04 after evaluating Debian 7, Ubuntu, Opensuse and Scientific Linux. I use Thunderbird mail client with Davmail as an interface to the Exchange servers. I use the 'Lightning' Thunderbird calendar add-on for my Exchange calendars. (DavMail POP/IMAP/SMTP/Caldav/Carddav/LDAP Exchange Gateway - Thunderbird calendar setup) I use Unity on my home latop, and it's pretty well perfect for that. However, Unity was good, but there were a few glitches with the workspace manager which i didn't like. I installed Gnome3 and Docky. Together these make an excellent environment. I use krb5-auth-dialog to get Kerberos tickets so I can browse without authentication pop-ups. Virtualbox for the many Windows test systems I use. Remmina for RDP/remote sessions. It's nice to use a native console to SSH into our Linux servers.

These views draw together the underlying tables of the database. Examining the diagrams of these views will show you how the data is organised. Ah, no, I meant regular insulated gloves over your hands (as normal), and a windproof layer over the whole lot. I have tried it the wrong way round, marigolds next to the skin, then covered with gloves, and it was as horrendous as it sounds. I think I will look at motorcycling gloves, though. They seem to be the proper solution to the problem.

I don't suffer like that, but my hands really feel the pinch in winter. That's the only part of me that feels the cold. I've tried my snowboarding gloves, Sealskinz mittens, loads of different gloves, but when the temperature drops below, say 3 degrees, my hands sting like nobody's business. I've given up buying new gloves. I read that it's to do with the cold wind blowing away the insulating layer of air, and can be remedied with something windproof (marigolds!) over insulated gloves. Anybody know if this works?

First, tell your manager that you suspect the database isn't behaving properly. He must be made aware now. Don't cast aspersions or speculate - it's doesn't matter what you think, or even what you know, it's what you can prove. Keep a journal of your actions, and if you find something odd, show it to your manager who should then try to get to the bottom of it. There are quite a few SIMS experts on here who will be able to tell you if more comprehensive logging is available.

Half anecdote, half confession. My feet got soaked last Friday, I was caught without overshoes on my way home. Even though the shoes are heavy Goretex walking shoes, nothing bar wellies would have kept out that amount of water. The upshot was my shoes were still soaking on Monday - so I rode in in crocs. Yes, those funny plastic shoes (black, discrete and hidden under overshoes) Well, I kept wearing them and I've done 45 miles in them this week and I love 'em! They don't absorb any water, wipe them with a rag when they get wet and you're good to go. Worst case is that your socks get wet, wipe the crocs, put on dry socks and you're off again. No more cold wet shoes. Time will tell, but I'm going to see how I get on with these rather than fabric shoes. So far, it's all pluses - very light, very tough, don't absorb water, and if you keep spinning, no-one will see your feet. The cool kids have disowned me, of course.

Yes indeed. You can nest groups, though. A group "All-workstations" can contain "Library-workstations" & "Science-workstation". Apply general stuff to the group "All-workstation", and perhaps library-specific settings to '"Library-workstations". Horses for courses, but we've found this approach very flexible.

I worded that paragraph poorly. I was trying to reconcile GPO targeting-by-filtering with loopback processing. Loopback last resort? Pfah!

The best way of applying policies is using security groups. While editing the policy, remove the 'Apply group policy' tick from Authenticated Users (but leave the 'Read' flag - they have to be able to read) Create a security group (e.g. LibraryComputers) and set the 'Apply Group policy' tick to this group. When you place machines into this group they will get the policy.

We use loopback processing, the settings from the 'User' side of the 'Computer Settings' should override the 'User' side of the 'User Settings' (I hope I've stated that correctly). To check, run a simulation in AD (make sure you specify 'merge mode' within the wizard) and see your results. This will tell you the 'winning' policy. One thing Ive noticed, if you combine Internet settings from more than one GPO, things can get unreliable.
