Having the same issues with Oxford MAT. Still have candidates not able to get back into their tests. Nightmare!

What was the outcome of this? as we seem to be having similar issues. We have both BT and Virgin connections for failover and both our connections go down. BT and Virgin are both saying we are over utilising our connections. But don't know anything else than that. We have completely locked our Smoothwall down. Keep getting messages "Caution: have detected 36590 accesses to IP Address..." which is our external IP. When internet drops we receive a message on our Smoothwall saying, "fwloggerd - Buffer filled up - some packets have not been logged!", then "Failed to connect to Blockpage server". Smoothwall hasn't been able to identify any particular issue, but have said they are looking to increase this particular buffer size. We install Bandwidth module and set incoming and outgoing on the interfaces to cap at 900mb. But the internet still has gone down. AntiVirus not reporting anything unusual. Smoothwall Reports doesn't seem to pinpoint to anything either. BT and Virgin haven't been able to tell us if its any kind of attack/DDOS. Any ideas?

Hi, Not sure if I have misunderstood you but from what I have seen on AC2, it looks like when you use the VPP account to install the Apps it actually adds a Placeholder for the App, and then downloaded from the internet. Have you tried adding a WiFi profile to the iPads? then once connected, install the Apps how you said.

I noticed when I signed into VPP on Configurator that none of my purchased Apps appeared. I spoke with Apple, and they confirmed that only Apps purchased with Manage Distribution would appear, so I will need to Email to transfer them from Redemption codes to Manage Distribution. Could anyone please confirm that once this has been transferred to Manage Distribution, that I would be able to transfer the Apps to the iPads? As a deployment on a per device basis? I don't want to invite them to users as its not a per user based device. It is there for many students to use. When I looked into this a few years ago Apple advised me to create an Apple ID per device. Which I don't want to do. I was hoping this was now changed?

Only reason I did it with IPA is because with the other way I had many Placeholders empty and stuck on "installing" doing nothing for a long time. So ended up going back having to install them manually again, and all random apps. Was never the same App that wouldn't install. IPA way, it did it first time, and works for me at the moment. Yes you are right VPP is the way to do it. But haven't got time to do that. Have spent 2 days figuring out a way to get them all supervised and working with no errors. Plus each iPad has around 40 apps. Will be something for me to do another day. That link is good though...makes more sense now.

Hi, I too have issues with getting Configurator 2.1 to work. Looks promising from last version, and love the idea of Blueprints! but still not exactly there in terms of helping us Techs out. Instead of Backing up Masters why can't there be an option to have a template for apps and folders? Anyway...the only way I have got this to work is to treat the Blueprints as a Workflow. So I now have 5 Blueprints that are Numbered and each do something different but in order. Firstly I created my Master. Updated it to latest iOS, Supervised it and installed all Apps required. I then ordered them in the folders required and completed a Backup. Then I created a Blueprints below: 01 - Upgrade -> here is simply target iPad, update to latest OS. 02 - Restore -> Here is just Restore from Backup. Adding Master backup. 03 - Supervise -> Here I added Prepare info. Supervised to my Organisation with what I wanted skipped. 04 - Rename -> Here is just renaming iPad using my naming convention. iPad-. So that number increases each time. 05 - Apps/Profiles -> Here is all my Apps to install, along with WiFi Profile, Wallpapers, Tags. Once created I would run through each Blueprint in order. Once the loader on iPad has stopped would then go down to to the next Blueprint. Once all these are complete I then manually install the Trust Profile that is from my Profile Manager and then after this is complete I install the Enrollment Profile. Add it to my iPad group so that it then picks up the Restrictions. I would imagine you could at this stage install Meraki Profile as well. Or use the MDM URL on supervision to configure this. Just that I am now moving to Profile Manager as Meraki will not support the locking down of Passcode and Wallpaper which is important I get configured. Something I did notice was that it was a lot easier to install Apps from the Mac using the IPA files . The new way of using the Apple ID will be great for VPP, but I'm installing mostly free Apps. Simply download from iTunes and point configurator to pick them up from the Music Folder - iTunes - iTunes Media - Mobile Applications. Obviously most of these can be done manually. But I would forget the order so wanted it set out like a workflow and in order. I tried all manor of different ways and trying to get into one BluePrint, and it would not work at all for me. This way has worked for me every time, so I am going to keep it as it is. Hope this helps some people. Has taken me two days to get it to work with no errors.

Hi, I have our Macs setup with Profile Manager and they pick up Software Updates from our Mac Server. However it seems that the Macs don't update any iWork App from Software Updates at all. On some machines I have remoted in and manually opened App Store and completed an update on Pages, Keynote and numbers. As after some time it won't allow users to use them, unless updated to latest version. Surely there is an easy way to update any iWork Apps over a network? Anyone have any ideas? I tried looking for PKG files on the updates but cannot find a thing. Thanks in advance. Nick.

Hi, Up to now I have used Apple Configurator and iTunes to install Apps, profiles and updates on our iPads. However I am thinking of Supervising them over the summer holiday. What are the differences of Supervising them and Using Profile Manager on Mountain Lion? Is Supervising purely for App Deployment and Profile Manager to lock them down? not sure if I need to do one or the other or both? Have been reading up on it all and really not sure what is best. Thanks.
