All DC's 4GB each, File Servers 6GB each (dedupe heavy setup), RDS 20GB, SIMS 20GB (again a lot of extra bits on it like Emerge etc), SCCM 24GB, and most others are between 2-4GB depending on what they are like web servers, helpdesk etc Physical host wise there's only about an 8GB balance out of 256GB per host, as it's dynamic setup so unless they are run at 100% there's always going to be "spare" over the 8GB (Assuming a full failure is in progress that is being a cluster) Steve

It's literally called File Auditing (Or File Access Auditing one of the two) Will try to find the guide I used as haven't done it in a while (once it's setup it just runs) Once file auditing is turned on (via GPO etc), you can modify what it tracks e.g. Read/Deletes etc and then it logs it to event viewer under auditing. (With a bit of powershell or task manager you can get it to email you when it flags etc, or just have it log until you need to view it) Basic, and not exactly shiny with graphs etc, but easy way to log deletes (or attempted access) Steve

If you're trying to do it in PE you'd have to modify it to enable wireless as it used to be disabled by default without the DLLs to run, or is this sequence in "normal" windows? Been so long since I used MDT on it's own can't remember if it only worked in PE Steve

What about the normal Microsoft one? It's not exactly fancy, and digging stuff out can be a pain, but its free and works Or did you need specific reporting for management reports etc? Can always setup auto flags and alerts from Task Manager for any specific attempts to delete etc or blocked access as required, may take a bit of setting up but free and what not Steve

When you say bills do you mean FSM? If so there's a specific printing section that allows different items to be set to different printers (Like all cheques can be set different to reports etc), might be worth checking the printing settings to see if it's been modified. Every single one of these recent MIS cloud threads and posts is the same thing, a bunch of drivel and twisted stories linked to one so called advertiser to get people to change to their product. But Roberto that’s a prime example from your website of my issue with this cost saving of cloud, you’re not talking about the same comparisons overall imo How are you spending £20k a year to back up 5TB is beyond me. £1500 ish just to store tapes per year? We replaced our backup server recently and including onsite backup server with LTO8 for external 8TB~ spent under £10k for server, tapes and 3 years licensing Veeam, that’s under 3.4k a year (even if you assume it’s 3 years life cycle rather than 5), so using that figure under half the cloud cost in your example, no idea why arcserve is so high priced unless it’s many physical servers? if I understand right, you’re talking about replacing a tape every other week? If you’re replacing 20 tapes in a year? So that’s equivalent to two uses per tape before they’re getting binned. Etc etc but yeah I understand every site is different but this just seems like the comparison isn’t exactly the normal setup you’re be comparing to when taking about the migrations, most schools won’t have budgets of £20k just for backups to save 50% on etc Steve

About as often as we hear how much it saves without any explanation or figures that back it up I guess... Normally it's just what manufacturer it's for, pretty much if it's an L0anything it's a Samsung screen behind it (unless its some cheap alternative), but for example L01 is normally HP(Compaq), L08/9 is Dell etc So while it "should" be the same screen, it can include things like different position of connectors/length of cables etc But as with anything there's so many varieties etc it's always advisable to try one before mass buying, as some have worked fine in the past some haven't due to lengths etc Steve

To be honest unless you really want to check version number you could just do a file check and write like a “updated.txt” into said location Again unless you really want to get into os versions just check if x86 programs exist as it’ll be 64 then etc If you want it to check let me know as I have an old script that did it somewhere but stopped using it as going the above easier to use on multiple programs and os versions etc Steve

May be missing the obvious, but why not use the "reject the message with explanation" option? You can customise the message as to why it's rejected, e.g. Domain changed blahblah. Depending on what it is you’re printing it often depends if it’s pages or sections that are split in word (especially sims based etc) Does it work if you try to print s1-s3 instead of 1-3? Steve

Once again it seems the so called MIS alliance who regularly post anti capita postings on here are making reasons for people to upgrade to “their” solutions (their being referenced as they refused to acknowledge who these companies were when asked on here[emoji14]) Just like previous posts where they said “dfe says don’t use capita” all this is saying is people should be looking for best value and regularly reviewing things, not as they keep saying to stop using capita.
