Hi All, Just a quick question on whether anyone has suggestions or experience on how best to sell unused but still good hardware? Specifically for us we currently have 3 iSCSI SAN's that are spare and we could desperately do with getting some money back on the investments. Does anyone know of any good companies that will buy to refurbish perhaps, or is it just the good old stick it on ebay and hope for the best? Thanks

Hi All, So long story short, we have never provided email for the pupils at our school for various reasons that I won't get into here. We are now ready to roll out email to all pupils and have been testing with a small few over the past half a year. Just looking for any guidance, best practice, help with planning the final roll out where we go live with 1000 new pupil emails. The infrastructure is more than ready but it's more from a human and child protection standpoint, educating staff etc... If anyone could share any information from a similar experience I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance

Have you had a look at the new built in software dedup from server 2012? Ridiculously easy to setup. Essentially it will work with any normal ntfs partition hosted on the server. (massive over simplification but its pretty accurate)

Personally I would stick with raid 10 over raid 5. The thought of hosting an OS partition on raid 5 gives me the shivers. Also with raid 10 your only getting 2TB, wont don't have to worry about UEFI/bios then. Obviously if you need >2TB then ignore all above advice!

GVRP should do what you want but the ap has to actively participate in the GVRP process. We use GVRP across all our access switches and it makes it very easy to move links around. Sadly the downside is you have to be very careful when enabling as without planning it can easily mess up a lot of stuff! iSCSI, Jumbo Frames etc... Another alternative is to use an access port that can tunnel wireless data back to a controller. That way it doesn't matter what vlan the ap connects on, it will just forward the traffic to the controller for vlan assignment and forwarding onto the network.

Wow that's a lot of info, cheers. We're mainly interested in just n performance for now, as you said there are hardly any ac clients out there yet. Sadly our budget means we very very rarely get the chance to invest in a good project like this so it has to last. We are already gigabit across the edge of the network, but in need of 10gb back to the core to really make the most of ac, thankfully that wont be happening for a while here. Our current bottleneck is actual demand of data. All our main network links rarely go over 200mb/s so there's just isn't the current demand of data. At least until I get in one day and someone's ordered 100 iPads! We had a few surveys done by other wireless vendors but the pricing was to damn high! Also most of our school is just single story, in multiple buildings made of seemingly 2ft thick lead, hence the large amount! I'm no where near convinced about workstations on wireless yet. We have only recently migrated a lot of teacher machines away from g wireless and back to cabled. Just so much easier and guaranteed connection and bandwidth, perhaps with the new wifi it will be an option again. Tis an interesting time to be in IT!

Hi Guys, First post here on edugeek! We've just bit the bullet and ordered 54 of the new AC units. Hoping to get them on the first batch of stock around mid August. Great price, great features, lets just hope it delivers. Has anyone else deployed the AC units yet? Any good tips for deploying UniFi APs?

I've managed to get the config working now thanks, just removed that style definition once using chrome, clicked save. Now it's written the initial config file the button is now visible! If you want any more info in case it's a bug or something then just let me know. Thanks for the help! Looking forward to playing around!

Ah good shout. Notice the display:none; in the style section! Should the button only be visible once all the settings are correct perhaps?

No luck, tried in chrome and IE. The only thing I have slightly non-standard is the path to the wwwroot folder? instead of C:\inetpub\wwwroot I have C:\inetpub\httpsroot and i've had to split http and https on the webserver as two separate sites. hap is running on the https binding only.

Hi All, First time setting up HAP+ as a seasoned DIY webmaster/developer. Server is 2012/IIS 8. Have worked my way around the usual problems. Essentially the setup page is not modifying the hapconfig.xml file. The security permissions on the file are correct, I do not recieve any errors whilst editing the settings. Should there be a big save button somewhere to commit the changes to file or does it simply write the changes on the fly? Sorry if this is a re-post of a common problem but i have done my due diligence of searching the forums here and google with no luck. Thanks
